Tai-Hong Restaurant — Restaurant in Clarenville

We stopped in Clarenville for a short break on our way home after a short vacation in Happy Adventure and decided to get supper while there. After a quick look on Google for a place to eat we decided on Tai-Hong Restaurant and we were not disappointed. It’s was a short detour from the TCH on the east end of Clarenville. Chinese Food can be hit and miss but we really enjoyed our meal and the price was very reasonable. While we waited for our food, I commented to my wife that it must be good food given the large number of people calling to order and stopping in to pick up take out orders. I wasn’t wrong. We ordered the dinner for two and we’re stuffed when we left, with enough for lunch the next day 😋! We will definitely stop in again if we are near. Great service, great food and a great price…. It's a little surprised to see a Chinese restaurant in such a small town. As a Chinese, I would say this is the most authentic home-made style Chinese dishes I tried so far. By saying that, I mean they don't add artificial seasonings to dishes just for a "striking" feel to your taste buds, instead, they use basic seasonings for the real food taste, just like grandma and mom would cook at home, very familiar flavor. I'm from GTA, for all the restaurants I tried in GTA, all are overwhelmingly adding artificial seasoning ingredients in the dishes, which may make you crave for your dishes but after you finished your meal, you will feel super thirsty and drained because of those "amazing taste" (unhealthy ingredients). Had an excellent experience at Tai Hong. Food was very fresh and hot, chicken balls were tender not chewy at all like alot of other buffets. Sweet and sour pork was freshly made not processed. Ribs were tender and tasty won ton soup delicious and hot. Went here with my fiance and her mother, who said it has been many years since she had Chinese Canadian food of that quality. Service very friendly and helpful , I saw a kitchen staff member carry a heavy box of takeout for a family out to their car. Highly recommend if you are in the Clarenville area you will not be disappointed I will be visiting Clarenville again just for the food...
