Friesen's Countrytyme Gardens
I don’t usually write reviews, but I felt compelled to share my experience after seeing some less favorable feedback from so-called “breakfast connoisseurs.” Having enjoyed a delightful morning at Friesen's Countrytyme Gardens, I believe it deserves a spotlight for the wonderful experience it offers.
Upon entering, I was charmed by the quaint and practical atmosphere of the restaurant. A glass case filled with enticing goodies—cinnamon buns, cookies, muffins, Nanaimo bars, and other pastries—welcomed us. It set the tone for what turned out to be a lovely breakfast outing.
My wife and I decided to go with the classic Eggs Benedict, and I have to say, the prices were definitely fair for what we received. Plus, the self-service coffee situation didn’t bother me at all; in fact, it felt quite homey as we poured our own cups. We found a table outside in the stunning garden, which was an absolute highlight on that beautiful July morning. The setting was serene and picturesque, allowing us to truly enjoy our surroundings.
The service was prompt, and soon our Eggs Benedict arrived. They came on a homemade biscuit that was simply to die for! The eggs were perfectly poached, and the Hollandaise sauce was rich and flavor-packed. The hash browns were cooked to perfection, just the way I like them.
Throughout our meal, our waitress was a beam of sunshine. She checked on us multiple times to refill our coffee and engage in friendly conversation, all while being attentive to other diners as well. It’s clear that she genuinely cares about providing a great experience for everyone.
In conclusion, I wholeheartedly recommend Friesen's Countrytyme Gardens to anyone traveling through the area. It’s a charming spot with delicious food, fantastic service, and a truly lovely ambiance. Don’t let the negative reviews deter you—this place deserves to...
Read moreFriesen’s has been a special place to my grandmother and I for over 10 years. The only place we go to eat when we want to have a date. We went there for lunch today and no one came to bring us menus or greet us for 10-15 mins so I went in and grabbed menus and let them know we still haven’t been seen yet. Another 15 minutes went by and still no server so I had to go in again and ask that they take our order to which the server said she could just do it right there inside. I asked for water and she told me to get it myself so I did. The server then brought our coffees out which were spilling over the cups and all over the table. My grandma asked for napkins so we could clean the mess up and the server ignored my grandma and left. So I got up again to go get napkins only to see that she had heard my grandma and did intentionally ignore her but brought two napkins. My grandma asked if she could bring us a few more since it wasn’t enough and she told her to go and get her own. My grandma is 85 years old and I’ve never had such bad service in my life or seen a server treat myself or my grandmother so poorly. I told another server or manager there how rude our server was and she took over our service. She was friendly but at no point did we receive an apology or anything. Unfortunately we won’t be coming back there after over 10 years of our favourite...
Read moreIt was my first time inside this restaurant. For long time residents of Vernon, this is where Red Barn relocated to from Polson Mall. However, it has changed ownership over time.
Because my dad was such a big Red Barn fan, he wanted to come here. It was our first time going out to eat together just the two of us in a really really long time.
I had three pancakes, hashbrowns, and a Boylan soda for approximately 16 dollars after tax (pancakes were $8, hashbrowns were $3, and the Boylan soda was $3.50 before tax).
The pancakes were really good. However, the hashbrowns didn't have any cheese on them. There wasn't any flavour to them, and the portion was smaller than expected.
That's the only negative thing I can say.
I love the venue though. Tons of baked goods, jams, and pierogis being sold. There's a big section for pre-made stuff.
There is about ten tables for seating indoors and a lovely back garden with approximately twenty tables.
After we were done eating we walked around the neighbourhood for about twenty minutes.
Staff was working hard. They have signs that they are hiring everywhere, and somebody new was being trained.
Overall, it's a cute little country restaurant in a beautiful part of town. I liked the minor touches such as using playing cards to indicate a table. That was my favourite part.
I recommend giving this...
