Wanting to go for breakfast on the day before Valentines Day, and also wanting to enjoy ye ol fashioned small town dining experience, I happened upon Norma Dee's almost by accident. But the reviews were positive, the drive short and easy ( it takes about the same amount of time to drive from Edmonton's West End to Devon as it does Edmonton's West End to downtown). So on 10am today, my wife and I make the trip out to Devon.
My expectations ( based on photos): friendly but dated decor, moderately Friendly Staff, Average food.
My experience: TOTALLY BLOWN AWAY ON ALL COUNTS!
Decor - Dated and wonderous. Wood paneling everywhere. Paintings which I would guess are from a local artist ( which were pretty good). An Oilers Windchime from gosh knows when or where. The only thing that ruined the whole vibe was the modern flatscreen tv.
The Staff - Wonderful. Hostess/waitress smiley and friendly. The woman who brought our food ( whom I'm pretty sure also had a hand in cooking it) asked us if we wanted a replacement egg for a sunnyside egg order that broke (side note: is that a thing people ask for? Good grief). Copious coffee refill offers.
The FOOD - When I'm out for breakfast I order one thing: french toast with bacon. The French toast was thick, moist and delicious. They gave 5 strips of the most perfectly cooked bacon I may have ever eaten. FIVE STRIPS OF BACON.
To the staff and management, thank you for the tremendous breakfast. I will lobby for Edmontonians to come for a visit. I will most certainly be back, and bringing more...

I've been coming here on and off for 6 months now. I'm a sandwich guy. The TBLT with egg and cheese has it all for this guy! toasted blt with egg and cheese. How could you go wrong?! Today, i went in and was greeted by the owners with a hefty smile and a how are you? Like as if I'm part of the family. ☺️ And, you know what? I feel like I'm part of the family. ❤️ Even the regulars are saying hi to me when i walk in! 🤗 What more could you ask for? Hot coffee, warm meal, and a down to earth staff. 💗
First Post: My new favourite breakfast diner! The staff is so down to earth.. Which is so refreshing! I've tried nearly everything in the menu, and i have yet to find one item that i don't like. I'm a French toast guy at home. Norma Dee's French toast have me contemplating ever making them again, at home! 😋 But, "la piece de resistance" for me has to be their Bennie's! I went in one day not sure what to have and they suggested the Bennie's. I said not my think. Can't stand them. If it weren't for the trust my taste buds already have in them, i wouldn't have tried them. Barbie ( the cook) recommended them saying their hollandaise is not like the others.. And that i shouldn't rule them out just yet! It's hard for me to go against any cook. So glad i tried these ones. They have become my favourite breakfast item! I love them so much that i won't even try them anywhere else. Norma Dee's is right for this guy! I highly recommend their...

I got the back bacon and eggs and added 2 eggs to it. It comes with your choice of toast (I went with Sour dough!) and home cooked hash browns. Everything tasted amazing coupled with a delicious cup of coffee, it was a 10/10 breakfast.
I loved looking at all the old photos on the wall of what I assume is Devon, from back in the day. The old wood and tiles reminded me of weekend meals with family at my grandparents house and the place was filled with folks enjoying that exact thing!
Norma's daughter (Barbie I believe) is running this little hidden gem now and I even think that Norma's granddaughter was my server. You could tell how much they love this place, like it's as much a part of them as they are it... and I don't know them at all. Maybe I'm way off base here but it's the way I felt in this place. Seemed like there is a lot of good history in those walls.
I can't think of a time I felt more at home and I look forward to going back soon for more home cooked food surrounded by that familiar feeling! Thanks for breakfast and a great start to my day. Love Devon and loved...
