We have visited here before and enjoyed our time, which made our visit this time surprisingly unfortunate. Overall a very negative experience, and each issue was the result of staff. The location is great and the products are excellent, however the staff working dropped the ball at every point. It is odd that you do have to go up to order your drinks and food, however we did. I started a tab and took our beers to our table. My friend went up to get the 2nd round. Upon reaching the window, the staff had their backs to the window and were chatting amongst themselves. My friend had to excuse himself to get their attention. He ordered two more beers and two orders of wings. He asked to add them to the tab and they insisted we did not have a tab. A strange argument as he was trying to insist we had two beers already unpaid for. I went up to get the next round and asked where the wings were, they responded, "oh you didnt get them yet??". After 1 hour and 7 minutes, the wings came out just as we were gathering our things to leave. The server simply said "sorry for the wait" and walked away. Wings were undercooked. Washroom was out of paper towel and the floor covered in used toilet paper and paper towel. When we went to pay the bill, all 4 staff behind the bar were huddled at the side eating French fries. After waiting while they were eating, I said, "excuse me?". One server turned around and said, "oh! Do you want your bill or another round?". I asked for the bill. She kept insisting my tab was under a gentleman named Brian, a name of someone not in our group. I kept insisting I didn't know a Brian, she then found our bill, I paid it and we left. As we have always had good experiences here, I do want to return. However all issues experienced during this particular visit were unfortunately the result of poor staff. For reference, we were there on Wed Aug...
Read moreBrought some friends up from the city, took my friends to the brewery for lunch, after they said it would be 20-25 minutes, waited over an hour for my food, waited an extra 10 minutes, went to ask about my food she was very rude to me, said they were wrapping it as we speak. Waited another 20 minutes, she was even more rude to me, finally get my food, they take over $90 for the food. We went down to the beach cause it was such a nice day to eat, and didnt take long to discover it wasn't our order, it was NOT vegan food at all, phone them immediately to complain, someone who claimed she was the manager, said they would replace the food and return my money to me. Told me it would be ready in 20 minutes, waited 30 minutes to pick my food up, she was very rude to me, I inconvenienced her for making my food wrong. Refused to give me my money back because she replaced my food. No sooner we open our food it's wrong again.phone the store talked to the same woman that claimed she was manager, I'm shocked for what they charge for their food how they can treat the customers like that, for their mistake. She didn't seem to care at all. You may get away with this for one time customers but the people who live here will catch on real quick and soon you won't have a business here. I suggest any one that orders food here check your order before leaving they don't care. PS I threw that $90 so called dinner in the garbage One more thing next time I'm taking my friends to McDonald's at least they have manners and TRY HARD, foods better...
Read moreIf you haven’t been to Torrance lately, you’re missing out. Just three minutes south of Bala, the intersection of Southwood Road and 169 almost hides Clear Lake Brewery on the north west corner. They have - as you’d expect - some great beers (the Session Ale being my favorite) and a great menu that I would describe as “pub plus”. Tonight we enjoyed exceptional wings - way meatier than most and breaded perfectly. Wings you can actually get wrong and Clear Lake gets them VERY right! I also had the pulled port sandwich which was generous, soft and delicious on a focaccia bun as well as chicken tenders which again, can be “fine” but here they are waaaay better than fine… they were large, crispy and awesome. My wife had the beet salad and thought it was one of the best she has had.
Prices are competitive and when combined with good portion size, freshly cooked, nice staff at the front - well, it’s good value and great for take out which is what we did.
The store is full of cool merch and swag - and giant beer tanks. When I was there two nights ago, I young man had fallen into the lake and needed everything. So he cool sweat pants, and awesome shirt, new hat - well, it was hilarious. He just was disappointed they didn’t have Clear Lake boxers!
Muskoka has been improving on all fronts during a pretty difficult time. Clear Lake is one of those places and my review reflects that. It’s nice to eat at places that treat you well and Clear Lake does....
