AN UPDATE for August 2024: Again.....a pleasure to have stayed here. Always a nice conversation with Patrick and this place continues to be a well-maintained and moderately priced alternative to the MASSIVELY expensive resorts in the area. A terrific base for easy access to Algonquin Park. Just a few slight cautions, however, for families with younger children: if you do NOT canoe, kayak swim or build fires at night....there is nothing for pre-teens to do. Also, the restaurant is ONLY available for breakfast from Wednesdays to Fridays (at this time). I think that signage should be adjusted as it is somewhat misleading for travelers wanting to stay here or passing by. _________________________________________________________ This is an absolutely beautiful location which displays an impeccable PRIDE OF OWNERSHIP by the Pobojewski Family which has been unseen by myself in a moderately-priced accommodation during my many years of North American travels. From the location on the highway it appears non-descript and somewhat passable but once you register and head to your room you are impressed by the beautiful presentation of the facility and the quiet setting. There are lovely "pods" of Muskoka Chairs on little patios overlooking the little lake. The grounds are landscaped with lush gardens nicely maintained. The beach area is somewhat small but properly maintained with modern seating, canoes and kayaks all for the use of the guests. The little lake is fresh and inviting for the guests as well. My room (Upper 4) was located off a small open walkway and facing the lake. There were two chairs outside each room as well as an ashtray as ALL the rooms are THANKFULLY NON-SMOKING. There is a ground level floor...a main level and the "Uppers" were only one flight of stairs. They are remarkably soundproofed considering their proximity to the highway but this is accomplished by the new, high quality windows in the rooms. The decoration is beautifully painted and set up with modern wall-mounted digit thermostats and not the usual noisy wall HVAC systems. The bedding is comfortable with an assortment of sleeping pillows.(They could probably do without the three decoration throw pillows...IMHO). The bathroom is modern and bright with new two-level toilets with slow-close lids and a modern timer control for the fan.Plenty of towels and toiletries are provided. The crowning touch of this resort is the restaurant !!! Sadly, like many places in this region there is a lack of help and the restaurant is limited now to only breakfasts from Wednesday to Sunday. (Also...the nearby COOKHOUSE is CLOSED and the local BOILER ROOM has great food but HORRIBLY slow service!!!). The décor is "old-time cottage comfortable" and the food and coffee was locally sourced, excellently prepared and delicious.

We took a room on the main floor. The room was very basic. The ceiling was thin, meaning every step the top floor made could vibrate through the ceiling to our ears. Imagine the one living above you woke up at 5 AM to see the sunrise and came back late at night for astrophotography, if you don't usually have nightmares, you would be. In addition, the water tasted and smelled rusty. Closet was lacking. There was a coat hanger near the entrance though. Notwithstanding these complaints, the room (including the bathroom) was clean, the heater was adequate, bedding was acceptable. Shower was hot. There was a microwave, a fridge, a coffee machine and a small TV. Besides the standard stuff, however, this resort had a nice yard with bluejays as visitors every morning. Beyond the yard was a small lake. Canoeing and kayaking were included. In the early morning, mist hovered above the lake, creating a surreal scene. At night, stars covered the sky above the lake. You could sit on the lawn chair to admire the observable universe. In view of all of the above, if you like to book this resort, book the top floor. This way, you can avoid the sleeping problem and become someone else's.

Recently spent a couple nights here for a fall Muskoka road trip. This was my second time visiting over the years. Really great motel, very clean rooms with comfortable beds. Each room has a tv, microwave, coffee maker and mini fridge. The property has a private beach, kayaks/canoes to take out onto the lake with available safety gear for free. Lots of hiking trails and a couple bbq’s and fire pits to use near the lake. You’ll need to bring your own firewood or charcoal for the bbq. My only complaint is that it is right off hwy 60 so road noise is common. It’s very close to Algonquin and Ragged Falls Provincial Parks and other shops in Dwight and Dorset. Very pretty area during the fall. Overall, had a great stay and would return!
