So disappointed with this experience. I honestly didn’t think I needed to vet a restaurant at a JW hotel but I thought wrong. Here is the rundown of our order: Homemade focaccia - dry and crumbly Calamari & shrimp - spoiled shrimp (extremely fishy tasting) and so undercooked that the breading tasted like raw flour. (Complained and this was taken off the bill) Rigatoni arrabbiata, add meatballs - overcooked pasta, not spicy whatsoever, tasted like tomato sauce with unseasoned pasta. Temperature was cold and had to be reheated by the kitchen. It also contained black olives which is atypical and not mentioned on the menu. Meatballs tasted like boiled, unsalted beef- horrible texture and taste. Truly awful. Mushroom farfalle - overcooked and unseasoned pasta, everything else good. Spaghetti carbonara - not carbonara, it’s Alfredo. Also overcooked and under seasoned. Seared scallops and side asparagus - scallop dish was good taste-wise, but also wasn’t served hot. The one and only thing they did right was the asparagus. Tender-crisp, hot, and well-seasoned. Tiramisu - complimentary for birthday celebration. Definitely not authentic you can hardly call it tiramisu besides the layering look to it. Very faint coffee taste and some weird jelly texture at the very bottom. No lady fingers. Overall, this was truly pathetic food, especially for the price paid. Extremely amateur menu to begin with, and not even well-executed. Like literally I think they must be allergic to aromatics in there. Didn’t even smell like garlic or onion in an Italian restaurant. A worker in the lobby asked how our dinner was and I said it was “okay”, she offered her sympathies but nothing else. Service was also slow. Our server was nice and attentive to the complaint and the ambiance was nice. Comfy seating and good lighting. But the food was a sorry 1/10 and I would...
Read moreI normally don't write reviews but in this case I had to. We at at this restaurant just two years ago and had decent food and fine service. Unfortunately, this time around, food was quite poor but customer service was even worse. Our orders were pretty straightforward. Three of the 6 of us wanted a simple spaghetti with pomodoro sauce with no meat or vegetables. Instead, they were brought in with meatballs. The waiter had cleared made an error. Fine. But then we were served an incorrect order for the second time. To begin with, the sauce had carrots and peas, something we clearly said we did not want. Further, the sauce had no spices, salt or seasoning - it tasted like canned tomato sauce from the grocery store. Even worse, the spaghetti was not stirred in the boiling water and so a third of it stuck together and was inedible. When I asked for the manager, he did ask if we wanted anything instead, but we were done by then. We wanted to leave. And although they excluded the three spaghetti dishes from the bill, the manager never returned to apologize or there was no offer to forgo payment for the sequential errors. We spent over $130 for a few appetizers and two main courses, had a horrible experience and half of us went hungry. Given the exorbitant prices Teca charges, this is unacceptable. At least if they waived our bill, it would told me they were serious about placing customer service first. Now, there are those who have had a good experience at this restaurant, but I will tell you that if you eat here, it will be hit and miss. I've had a much better experience at the Old Spaghetti Factory in downtown Toronto and for a fraction of the price....
Read moreConsidering it’s one of the fancier restaurants in the resort, you will have to make a reservation with the concierge at least a day ahead as they are limiting the capacity due to Covid 19. It’s nice to know the on the day before or day of, they will call your room to reconfirm your reservation at the restaurant.
Upon arrival, the process is simple. You tell them your room number and reserved time, and they will lead you to your seat. The menu option isn’t that huge, which can be good for some people if they have a hard choice deciding what to get. They also have a kids menu which is pretty good,$13 and they can get a side, main, drink and dessert. There are also vegetarian/vegan options as well.
Overall, the food tasted nice, and also nicely presented as well although quiet pricey. My favorite dish of the night surprisingly was the fried beets as it was made to be lightly crispy. We had an issue with the tiramisu as the bottom of it was pretty hard which is an indication that it wasn’t fresh. We were able to get it refunded, but it was definitely a turn off.
We were alittle uncomfortable as a stroke of luck, we ended up with the same server we complained about during our first visit to the resort. Every other server and staff was wearing a mask, but ours was just wearing a face shield which wasn’t too reassuring considering he was very tall, so his spit can still come down.
We will probably not be returning to this restaurant, and will probably stick to cooking in our rooms should we ever book the...
