We ate at the Lower Ledge on Friday (21 Oct) night as part of a large group of about 25 - 30 people. First the positives, the service was fantastic, our service was fast and the server very nice. The atmosphere was great, perfect location on the river and the building was new and had a great warm and cozy feel. Now to the not so good part, my wife and I shared an order of chicken wings and an order of chicken strips. Both the wings and the chicken strip meal were the first meals brought to our table of six within 5 or 6 mins. They had obviously been sitting under a heat lamp and not cooked fresh. They batter was very thick and very dry as was the wings and chicken strips. I returned the wings and a second batch was brought out. The second batch was marginally better but again the batter was very thick and heavy and very dark. We ordered honey garlic, which the wings were tossed in after being cooked in the batter. We only ate about half of the wings (oddly the server did not comment on half of them going uneaten). Other couples at our table ordered the fish and chips, which they said was fantastic, it had a light batter and came out a nice golden colour. So overall for me, it was a very disappointing meal and based on what we ordered would not order that again. As we come out every year, we will give them another shot but order...
Read moreThis place is a must visit! The fish and chips, wings and Caesar salad were so delicious. They offered large portions, perfect for those who had/have a busy day exploring the river. Last time we visited, I had the burger and it was also outstanding.
After we ordered, we brought our drinks out to the patio to take in the beauty which seemed to be all around us. Throughout our meal, we continued to enjoy views of the Miramichi which paired perfectly with the friendly staff.
Between the food, atmosphere, drinks, uniqueness and welcoming charm, they have created a space set up to only provide a positive experience for its guests.
Also, their Inn right beside the restaurant looked cozy, well kept and perfectly placed for travelers hoping to experience the beauty and unique serenity of this area. We can’t wait to come back soon, but in the evening to experience the liveliness and comfort of the fire pits, string lights and tables on their...
Read moreDrove one hour to try this little pub out, as it was recommended to me by a friend. We got there relatively late, 40 mins to close as they close at 7, however the staff was friendly and served us with no issues, which I appreciated.
We ordered spinach dip and cheese wontons to start. Never heard of cheese wontons in my life, but my partner ate them all within 30 seconds and left me one (says they’re the best appetizer she’s ever had) and we’ve been to a lot of places, lol. Spin dip was great too.
I had the burger with the Chili cheese fry’s, which I will say was a tasty combination. She had salad which I guess was tasty too, certainly looked it.
Overall, the service we received was outstanding and the patrons here were very friendly as well which made it a really enjoyable evening. I’ll be here to eat in the near future.
If you’re looking for a nice, unique spot to eat, I would strongly consider coming here as you won’t be...
