Dirty, overwhelming stench of rancid fryer grease. Newspapers on the floor. Open curbside trash can next to the door inside the restaurant (with garbage in it). Take out counter illuminated by a bare flourescent bulb. Owner/operator barely speaks any English; does not use a numbered menu to compensate. The dishes I ordered were mostly indistinguishable from one another and consisted of meat and overcooked vegetables in a slimy, goopy sweet sauce. The dishes are mis-labeled. For example the beef chow mein has no noodles and is mostly cooked cabbage in a sweet sauce with a few pieces of beef. The "curry" dishes are not curry. I suspect it the same goopy sweet sauce with a pinch of curry powder. This place is extremely stingy with meat. The "curry" jumbo shrimp was a few small shrimp filled out with cooked vegetables. The beef chow mein came with maybe five small pieces of meat and was mostly overcooked cabbage. Had to hunt for chicken in the chicken fried rice. Found only a couple small pieces. Same story for the shrimp fried rice. Fried rice smelled like rancid fryer grease. The only good thing I can say about this place is that I didn't get food poisoning.

I do not understand how past reviews have said that this is THE PLACE to get your veggie fix. I got the veggie fried rice and it had -- no exaggeration -- three small pieces of sliced onion in it. Perhaps understandable if visiting in the dead of winter, but I surely expected better in summer. Also, the kitchen is small and we witnessed some hygiene issues with the kitchen staff's food prepping. They also only accept (Canadian) cash, which means we made a trip to the bank to eat here.

Give that it's the only game in town, how can one even begin to rate it? I will say though, the soup broth is amazing!

Wonderful -

At the risk of sounding a tad smug: my family is Asian, we live in Toronto and there are a lot of great Chinese restaurants here. We also visit mainland China - Shanghai, Beijing, Suzhou, Chegdu etc and enjoy authentic and diverse Chinese cuisine.

The food we had at Kwang Tung was fabulous - it is possible to get reasonably authentic Chinese dishes in addition to the usual Canadian Chinese food.

The service was heartfelt and functional - and friendly.

We were unaware of this restaurant before visiting Fogo and were surprised and...

I really hate to give a negative review to someone who runs an entire restaurant by themselves, and seems like a pleasant person. But my god the worst “Chinese” food I’ve ever tasted. It was very greasy, that’s about all you could taste. We each tried a sweet and sour sparerib and bit into hard bone and no meat. We ended up throwing them out. It was just so awful. The kitchen cleanliness is questionable and I just wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. Perhaps the fact that she has no visible help is half the problem. Very poor...
