Take 2 Restaurant & Bar — Restaurant in Fort Erie

My buddy and I went here on a Saturday afternoon, and it was relatively busy. There was only one bartender, poor girl was probably swamped. We ordered our first round of drinks while we browsed the breakfast and lunch menus given to us. I ordered a vodka and orange juice, and intended on getting breakfast as did my buddy. When the waitress came back, we were told breakfast wasn’t available. Weird, considering we were given the breakfast menu but no worries we’ll order lunch instead. When my drink arrived after a decent wait (reminder only one bartender) I looked at the glass to see there was a very clear lipstick stain on it (see photo below). We told our server who barely apologized and gave us a “oh sorry” like this was a regular occurrence. They replaced the drink and it was fine so we continued on with our meal, which arrived after quite the wait. We finished our meals and drinks and paid the bill. While we were waiting for our ride and just chatting, we ordered one final round of drinks. Imagine my surprise when the same glass came back to me with the lipstick still on the rim. We told the waitress again, who said “oh my god” but that was it. We were kind of surprised there was no attempt to make up for the dirty glass or poor service. No comp of a drink, or a small discount. We were not expecting anything, but it would have been nice considering the experience we had. We went last night and literally waited 1 complete hour for our food to come out. Soups didn't come out first like they should have, the french onion soup came in a big round bowl instead of the standard french onion soup dish. The clam chowder soup had a film on the top and both soups were cold. The burger tasted like it was boiled with absolutely no taste. The server we had was doing the best he could (it was his first night). We had to ask after 1/2 hour for our drinks which were water and coffee. Lady that was not our server was very nice and the waiter was nice but the owner was less to be desired. He berated our young server saying it was his fault the food was cold and left us with the impression that he would be paying for half the bill because the owner charged us only 36.00 rather than 66.00. It is for that reason we will not go back. You don't talk to your staff in that manner in front of customers. Not to mention, the food itself did not taste good and that falls on the owner who did the cooking. The clam chowder was tasty and the french onion soup and garlic bread and cheese were good with the exception of the soups being cold. We feel he overcharged us even with the 1/2 off considering we left all the food on the plates. This place has the potential to being a good eatery if they had more cooks and took better care in what they were cooking. A random stop for lunch. We drove nearby and looked on Google maps where are the near by restaurants and navigated to a cluster of them. Stopping in the first one to look what are the options and on the way looked at the menu. I am usually more picky then my wife but she was hungry and said it looks fine to here so we set down.

Surprise place! Really. We ordered from the lunch menu but the full menu looked good too. My pulled pork with fries was homemade, done perfectly bun was seared and didn't fall apart which happens when the pork is so moist. Fries are homemade and were just the right way. Great choice of russet potatoes and good Doble fry. My wife's beef wrap was excellent too and the chowder soup was very good. Tiramiso was done just right (I like mine with coffee and liquor and this version had a different syrup, but that's just a preference of mine) and was very generous. Coffee was fresh and huge. Service is meticulous. My Beer had a problem and was replaced immediately. I don't know if the line was not flushed or if it was the end of a kag but they closed it immediately to replace a kag even though the waitress said it was recently replaced, to avoid any problems with next customers. I usually get bad surprises (last night was one in a different place) and not enough good ones and this place was definitely a great one.This place feels professional.
