We won a $50.00 gift card at the fall trade show. We wish we had never gotten it!! Tried to go there for lunch one afternoon and after walking the long mile to the restaurant, it was closed for renos. Tried again a week or 2 after they were suppose to open and they were closed....We almost gave up but thought we would try one more time. (Should have stayed home!!)
We were the first customers of the day. Okay, someone has to be but the service sucked. The servers chatting at the bar drinking their Timmy's (All this says to me is their coffee is terrible and it was!) instead of bringing us the things needed for our meal was irritating. (Salt, pepper, butter, syrup for my pancakes, hot sauce for our eggs that we asked for when we ordered...) So when our meal arrives... which seemed to take forever, we had to ask for all the side things. Waited and waited...now we have cold food. Steak, which was ordered rare, was medium well to well done and tough as shoe leather AND tasteless. (It looked like they boiled it!) I didn't even get to try the pancakes but the bacon was awful. It had obviously been deep fried. (NEVER EVER a good thing for bacon!) The cook had also smothered my cakes in a jammy compote of some sort which I had to scrape off. (Maple syrup, fresh fruit, crispy bacon is exactly what it says on the menu!)
Needless to say, when the condiments finally arrived, we left the gift card on the table, told the servers why and left! There was no way to fix this mess without waiting another 1/2 hour or more! (And to possibly be disappointed again! No thank you!)
(Fyi, I am no stranger to the inside workings of restaurants. I have worked in the service industry for more than 40 years. This experience was one of the worst.)
Seems the "response from the owner below" is a robot reply. I've heard nothing...
Read moreMy review is for the Frosty Fox.
Whatever your expectations are lower them.
I realize it is the smaller version of the Fox's Den. But, you still expect a base line attempt or minimal standards to kept. To be specific I ordered the Black Bean Burger with Fries. The fries were under cooked, soggy and under seasoned. The onions on the burger were candied with sugar not carmelized. So sweet they were dessert like, just what I wanted on a commercially made burger, because it obviously was not made in house. Oh, and also don't add condiments that are not stated in the menu, such as cheap mustard. The nachos my girlfriend order were equally poor. Barely warm with weird chunks of meat on them. But surprisingly burnt, despite being cold.
The server was nice and professional. The only good part of the experience.
I know this isn't an A-list restaurant and you haven't staffed it with your best. But at least maintain some kind of effort and don't...
Read moreSeventy Two Kitchen used to be our favourite spot after our Sunday morning sport routine. After playing for a couple of hours, we were always starving, and it was convenient to pop into Seventy Two, especially with the discount for Mac Island members.
Unfortunately, we've stopped going since they changed the menu. It now feels too fancy for what we want, and they don’t even serve breakfast or brunch anymore, which used to be our go-to choice for our group of 5 to 7 people. After a sweaty game, all we crave is simple comfort food—not something like elk bolognese. My father-in-law refuses to go there now, so we’ve started stopping at Earl's or EVP on our way home.
It’s such a bummer! We’ve shared our concerns with the wait staff (who are great!), and they mentioned that they often hear similar feedback. It's really disappointing because we would love to keep supporting...
