BG's Tacos — Restaurant in French River

This place is 2 minutes off the hwy. The resturant is located on the lower half of a house. Please dont let this deture you. Kitchen and eating areas inside can be seen from counter and are 100% cleaner then any resturant ive worked in.

As im waiting for my food (take out) they brought me free chips

Staff was friendly and asked if I have ever been here. She went over the menu and I asked to make a recommendation.

I ordered Birra tacos and a "frozen Diablions" no idea what it was but looked good.

The birria tacos They some with onions on and i dont know the name but picked cactus. Dont be shy on this its amazing.

Tacos were amazing the consomme was amazing its all hand made deliciousness

The frozen drink thing was strong in flavor sweet heat and tangy. I enjoyed it something new.

The salsa verda or however its Spelt has ruined me. I buy the jar stuff and it doesn't even come close. (Edited) they gave me 4 salsa i just figured they gave me lots. But what i received was 4 different heat levels. So good.

Looks like everything is all hand made. Waiting for my food blenders of sauces were being made. Even the free chips were cooked in-house ( this is an assumption but they are warm and don't look bought)

My only concern is this place is very far form my house i wont get to visit again...

When I first discovered BG Tacos in Alban, I was excited to try out this place. The location was random because the restaurant is located in the basement of someone’s home, however it was a cute and homey space. The service was very friendly and explained everything on the menu well enough, however it was slow. The food itself was the most surprising considering all of the positive reviews I read before going here. I had the beef tacos, which were dry and lacked flavour but I’m grateful for the sauces provided. I didn’t finish my tacos unfortunately, but I thought I’d try dessert because who doesn’t love churros? However, the churros were hard and dense. I’ve had plenty of Mexican food before; throughout Canada, in the US and have traveled to Mexico as well, so I did have an expectation of what authentic, quality Mexican food should taste like, and this was not it. There was also no sides with the mains (like rice) with the exception of chips and pico de galo, and the food was overpriced for what you get. Overall, I was very disappointed because I love supporting local, family-owned businesses but sadly I won’t...

Who knew I could get the best and most authentic Mexican food I’ve had, in the French River area?!!

We pass by BG’s on the way to our cottage and got to finally try it for the first time. I can see what people are talking about now!!

We got the totopo and taco snack plate combo. This gave us 30 tacos (6 of each of the five taco varieties) and a huge portion of fresh tortilla chips. It came with a wide selection of amazing authentic sauces that we do fresh and flavourful, and everyone will find at least one sauce that they enjoy.

We ordered an hour ahead of time and it was ready for when we picked it up. Super clean inside and the staff is very friendly.

Definitely will order again and try a few different options...
