Bistro Boréal — Restaurant in Gatineau

The Bistro Boréal is amazing! We ordered pasta with cheese for our 2 year old and she said mmmm with every bite. Quite cute! She also couldn't get enough of the creamy chocolate ice cream. We asked to have her served first and were served with grace and speed. Personally, I ordered the open face chicken salad with the soup du jour. Absolutely delicious. The portions were excellent for lunch and the price very reasonable. My friend ordered stuffed pasta and she too exclaimed how delightful it was. Terrible experience. I went there with my kid. Their services have changed drastically. It is like a cafeteria now but the prices remained high (restaurant prices). We went and take the food ourselves, we ate with plastic knives and forks from carton plates. I drank my wine in a tiny tiny plastic glass which cost 6$. In terms of beer they had only one selection: Boreal. Service was average, we entered and no one would pay attention to us, I had to ask if they were closed or not. Terrible place, I will definitely not going back. I don't mind eating fast food / cafeteria style but I mind paying restaurant...

I was very surprised by this place. Normally, museum's restaurants are flat and basic but this one was surprisingly good. I had the chicken and fig open faced sandwich with the fries and it was delicious. The service was also excellent. We were first served by this young server who took our orders.
