High Street Bistro — Restaurant in Georgina

Fish and chips are consistently great here. As an avid poutine lover the gravy here is outstanding and rich in flavor. You have to make sure you eat it within a few minutes of picking up, as with any poutine.

If I can knock anything it would be the portion size and excessive oil. However, they make sure to wrap it well in paper which I use to dry the fish of any excess oil. Let's face it, any fish and chips will be oily. I like that the oil is clean, there is no smell and the color of the fish is clear and golden.

Only limited street parking is available but there is plenty spaces you can find in and around the area if you go down the side streets across from the location. The establishment has a quaint feel and could use a makeover, it's currently under new ownership. Customer service is great.

Best fish and chips I've had in years since visiting Wales. We drove through Sutton on a sunny drive along Lake Simcoe and the place we intended to go was closed so we just happened on this place and saw the reviews were good so we gave it a try. So glad we did. The exterior and interior could use some TLC but the fish and chips dinner was the best I've had since I visited Wales and had fish and chips by the sea! The fish and batter was flakey and tasty, not too bready like others and the chips and gravy were hot and delicious. They asked if we wanted tarter sauce and included all the condiments with malt vinegar and everything we needed to eat on their benches outside the restaurant. Hidden gem. The exterior and interior are pretty old looking, but the food is great. Ordered the fish and chips and really liked the batter of the fish. Fries are good too but can taste a strong buttery taste, which feels a bit heavy after eating a lot of it.
