Colonial Sports Bar — Restaurant in Greater Sudbury

The absolute worse experience. My family have been going to the colonial since I was a little girl and never had a problem. That's until the new owners. My family through a dinner party there and had a horrible experience, I had already paid for the hall for my wedding and thought maybe it was just a bad night, things happen. NOPE ! I'm not a bridezilla and thank God cause I don't know what would have happened lol the whole process was horrible, but the day of my wedding was the worst!!!! The agreement was that I could have the hall at 9am, so I was there for 9am. Doors locked. Numerous calls to the owners cell phone, numerous calls to the colonial itself, interactions with staff (who had no idea where she was) thankfully around 945 we got into the hall from someone who was cleaning it. However, I had rented linen from the colonial and couldn't get much decorating done as no one knew where our linen was. By 11ish .. she finally showed up!!!!! Excuse was her cellphone was broken.... a week later I kind of got an apology text, with the reason she didn't answer is because she was babysitting her grand daughter? I don't know which lie to believe. Oh and if you get poutine .. make sure to specify you want cheese !!! Apparently shredded Cheese and or cheese curds aren't included in a poutine bar !!! Never will my family hosts...

Absolutely love this place, they have a great selection of delicious food for very reasonable prices, especially for the large portion sizes. The only criticism I will give is better hours would be an important asset, it would attract more business and it would make it more accessible for people with varying schedules, especially people who don’t drive and rely on the Coniston bus which only comes every 90 minutes, and may want somewhere within Coniston to go for food or entertainment that doesn’t require waiting around for the bus. They should be open until 10 or 11 pm on Friday and Saturday nights at least, as presently on Saturdays they are only open until 7 pm. People who want to partake in “night life” like a late dinner or drinks at the bar would have to travel into town for options with later hours...

Food was ok but had to wait over an hour. Didn't have what we ordered (fish) so had to substitute. There was six of us and one didn't get served at all. I ordered a hamberger thinking I was getting fries but none appeared. There was someone wandering in and out of the kitchen in their bare feet. Didn't think that was cool. Won't be back anytime soon.

Thanks for your reply. We were there on Thursday April 21 from 5pm to 7pm. I didn't pay the bill (our friend did). He was charged for items not recieved but didn't notice until later and it was him that never got served. This was our second time at the Colonial. We were there about 6 weeks or so ago (with other friends) and didn't get our first choice from the menu then either.
