Sat with a group of local writers because my car was in the shop and couldn't get to our usual location so we figured we'd give this a try because of the location, parking space, etc.
A lady stood behind us and complained loudly about how things were going downhill but never thought anything about it.
Normally, at any other place (ie Timmies or even Gus's... Starbucks) if my battery gets a little low like it was during our visit not only has staff been helpful and supplied an extension cord but apparently this isn't the place for that. The same lady came right over and told me unplug my laptop and plugs weren't for customers.
Considering our group formed most of the clientele at that time, we were taken aback as we have never been told this anywhere else.
Needless to say we canceled our orders and left... right to Starbucks despite it being out our way.
As a hint, perhaps half the reason you're having issues with rent and lease is perhaps someone there likes to not only broadcast company business out where customers can hear it but is a little out of touch on how to keep a large group in there and spending money.
As a group, we're not coming back. Considering writers consume copious amounts of coffee because that is writer fuel... well...
EDIT: Filled out the form as per the instructions/response from the owner. Absolutely zero response in over three months. If my fellow writers ask for a recommendation, I can definitely say where we're NOT going. We'll stick with either Timmies, even if it is a little further, or one of the local...
Read moreThere's no denying the location is dated and the property layout is horrible, but it's been that way as long as I can remember.
The staff is friendly, relatively young now (I would assume most are students working for the franchise owner), they are polite, friendly and on-task. The restaurant looked clean and elderly patrons didn't seem to mind eating there.
I've only had their coffee and donuts so far. Their coffee is fairly standard but doesn't taste quite as good as competitors like McDonalds or Tim Hortons coffee (I'm not a big fan of Tims). Their donuts are fairly "middle-of-the-road" as well but make sure you get them fresh or they can be quite dry. I don't think they have the same standard of "a fresh pot every 30 minutes" or anything.
Overall, I understand why Country Style has never really taken off here in Sudbury. Maybe a better location with a fresh coat of paint would help refresh the image we have in our heads for the neglected stepchild of Sudbury breakfast restaurants. I've always been a fan of the retro brown/orange...
Read moreI got a birthday coupon through email and went to redeem it, the lady was nice and scanned the coupon and my app, then asked what I wanted. Then a man came over to the drive thru window a few minutes later and loudly and rudely said “are you just making new accounts as you go along, that’s not allowed and by law, we can request your ID”. I was completely taken back as I’ve never used a coupon here before and I’m a fairly new customer but I provided my ID to prove my birthday. The man took a look and walked away with no apology for his rudeness. Horrible customer service. I would have been happy to provide ID without being accused of cheating the system.
Update: Reached out through the link provided and never heard from the...
