Old Rock Roastery — Restaurant in Greater Sudbury

Its great to see nice specialty shops showing up downtown! It's a shame the City doesn't care about downtown development like every other city.

Old Rock is quaint for a small coffee shop. Lots of options and some great muffin and such kinda foods.

The coffee is where my disappointment lies. The coffee didn't taste freshly grounded from high quality beans. The temperature was a bit hot for the coffee to properly have that fresh taste. So, I ended up with a dark somewhat bitter coffee.

Got roasted beans here to take home from our road-trip in Northern Ontario. We were recommended half/half of the beans they use at the cafe and blue moon. Unfortunately, it fell short of our expectations with respect to the quality of the beans. It produced a thin light crema. Tried to pull a few shots to make sure. We also ordered a single shot at the cafe. It was the same consistency. We thought perhaps it was the barista (it happens) and it will be different once at home.

I absolutely love this place, a must see in Sudbury for all coffee lovers! Not just your average coffee shop but a roastery with a TON of options (tea, coffee, crème brûlée lattée!!) and super knowledgeable staff.
