This rating isn’t a reflection on their food, which is always great. Unfortunately, just had a disappointing experience with them. Ordered for Easter 9 days ago. Scheduled pick up for today. Picked up my order which included two Babka. Picked up my order and checked it before I left. Good thing I did. No babka despite paying for it AND seeing it highlighted in yellow on the receipt. I pointed this out to the staff and they happened to find a “spare”. I said I ordered two but they said they only had one “spare”. They refunded me for the one that didn’t get fulfilled. They said they had received a lot of last minute orders as an explanation. The disappointing part is that my order wasn’t last minute. I then ordered a couple of sandwiches and a beverage. I took my order out to the car and discovered no beverage. As I started back into the store, they must have noticed this and brought a beverage to me, but the wrong one. I pointed this out and was told they didn’t have the one I ordered. This is the type of thing they could have told me as I tried to order it. Overall, a series of mistakes that made the experience really frustrating in the moment and reduces my confidence in their ability to get things right...
Read more270 Bench is still one of my favorite places to go for a sandwich, but lately I've been noticing some inconsistency. I had a grilled cheese with unmelted cheese one time and a Ham sandwich that was full of gristle. Today I ordered a Grimsby Smoke. They're usually really good, but today's was just full of fat that was thick. Almost like uncooked bacon. Gross. I had to trim down a good part of the meat to make it edible. Guys, the people making the sandwiches must be able to see this stuff. Maybe I'm too picky, but I can't imagine many people who like that much fat in their sandwich.
I'm dropping my previous review down one star as a result. Hopefully you can take steps to be more consistent. If that happens I'll put the rating back up.
Update: I'm way too late in giving this update, but it looks like somebody listened to the concerns addressed above and fixed them. I've had a few sandwiches over the past few months and have found none of the same issues. Kudos for that. By the way, the English muffins, although pricey are well worth it in my opinion. ...
Read moreCome a little closer friends and let me tell you the tale of this great sandwich. I fancy myself a sandwich aficionado, so when I heard about this place I made sure I stopped by. I struggled with all of the great choices but settled on the daily special, a pork loin feature on the house potato olive sourdough. When it arrived I could not believe the how soft and fluffy the sourdough was and immediately set about determining how best to make a pillow out of the stuff. Unfortunately, while on the cusp of success the sandwich had been gloriously devoured. The house made pork loin, along with everything else that was house made, was fabulous: fresh, juicy, and flavourful, and paired beautifully with the heavily citric aïoli and fresh greens. That was a sandwich, friends. What a sandwich! I wish I could go back but they’re closed tomorrow. Next time. More...
