Lotus Thai & Vietnamese Cuisine — Restaurant in Hamilton

I passed by here Fri Jun 9, 730 after work and thought I would stop in to have dinner with my partner. Upon entering the waitress looked up at me from behind the bar and asked me loudly across the dining room, "Can I help you" with an tone that suggested I had done something wrong. I approached her to say politely, if I could have a table for two. She said, "you do know it's 730 right? we close at 8" I felt so embarrassed, as there were people seated around me and a man standing by the bar waiting for an order. I apologized and said it was my first time visiting here, I wasn't aware and left. Should anyone, who is driving by and happen to see the sign, and decide to stop in, like myself, be turned away like that? I will not recommend this place, just because these people, like that server, really do not care, if you are hungry and interested to try their food, especially if you arrive unknowingly 30 min close to closing time, 8pm and on a.... I've been to a couple of Vietnamese restaurants, and I used to mark the one in Brantford on Brant Ave one of the best, this place had just changed my mind.

The place is very clean and very organized, the staff was friendly and was able to figure out the correct way of handling every situation, such as taking orders and serving the food.

I had the seafood soup today, and the soup was just on point with the salt, the content is fulfilled by many things, the shrimps are extremely fresh. Just this bowl of soup alone, made me want to write a 5 star, because this place clearly knows what they are doing.

The washrooms are very clean, and the placement of everything is within reach, as a person who goes to washroom a lot, I can personally approve this place's washroom as perfect.

The price isn't high, we spent 60 bucks including tips with the 10% cash discount for 4 fully grown adults, it might be a bit higher than McDonald's, but come on, this one is way healthier.

I have ordered from this restaurant since its opening...years ago. I have to say, the quality is not what it used to be and quite frankly, I have been very disappointed in the quality and taste of food for the past 3 experiences with this restaurant. Today my work colleague and I attended Lotus for lunch-completely disorganized-there was 1 person doing phones, take out, tending to restaurant clients...service was lacking. We both ordered the LEmongrass chicken...chicken was dry and had no taste-there was no lemongrass taste to dish at all..and unfortunately this has been my experience the past 3 times... I mentioned it to the waiter and he took my uneaten dish back to the kitchen to show the chef (odd)..and then came back and said 'ya there is a little bit of lemongrass in dish, we can see it'...anyway, both my work colleague and I had leftovers, and she threw hers in the garbage and is now experiencing 'stomach issues' as a result of the lunch. Mine also went in garbage. I wont be returning here nor will i seek takeout from Lotus. Disappointing to...
