My well behaved daughter and I had eaten here more than once with no trouble and had a fine time. Our server during our second time told us how nice it is that kids are allowed in now that they had some license change. A couple of weeks ago we went and were told by a server that there was a private event going on so they could not have kids in at that time. Today we go and the same server sees us, rolls her eyes and makes an exasperated sound. She comes over to me and tells me and my daughter abruptly infront of everyone "You've been here before and so we've already been through this" (What?) and gestures at my daughter. I had no idea what she was talking about, and told her that the last time we came by she said there was a private event so we went somewhere else all the other times were fine. She told me that kids were not allowed in the pub at all and what a huge mistake it was to let kids eat there because they ruin the sanctuary of the pub. She said she could let it slide just this time but we could only "sit around the corner in the very back so no one would see us". I was shocked and caught off guard so I just sat where she said. As soon as we sat down I felt humiliated, and wanted to leave but she had us sit so far back so I would have to pass everyone on my way out clearly looking like a very upset, hungry, 37 week pregnant mother. I just sat and cried at the table, ordered food, ate as quickly as I could and left. I've never been made to feel so shamed ever before. I couldn't believe this woman was so brash. I will not be eating there again with or without...
Read moreWe found this pub using our Google maps. It had a reasonably good rating. On entering, the place seemed like pubs I went to years ago. This is not a bad thing. Our server was exceptional. I ordered a beer that I hadn't tried before and she said if I didn't like it, she would get me something else. Thank you Chantal. The beer was good. For food I ordered the Philly cheese dip, my bud ordered the Schnitzel Burger. Both were excellent pub meals. Special events, on Sundays they play a game with the customers, when entering you get a numbered ticket and when you buy a beer, another ticket. The prize, some kind of meat. The draw numbers on the hour between 1 and 5 pm. Obviously not a game for vegans and vegetarians. Overall, a diversion from our travels thanks to the staff and food. Btw, for those who didn't know, Rambo First Blood was filmed in Hope and the fortieth anniversary is coming up. The pub and maybe other places in town will be hosting events. If you are heading west on Highway 1 take exit 168. If you need gas there’s a station right...
Read moreBeen 4 times now though should note I am a non drinker. Food is decent and the price is competitive. The older female bartender danced on the dance floor at the Rock Or Bust ACDC tribute flashed part of her nice breast at one point. Yes LCBC no nipple. Service is good. Girl gaggles and men gaggles. Some staff and some patrons are vocal in their support for the Hell's Angels. The beer store is closed but off sales are handled over the bar just remember that stops at 11 PM by law. RCMP keep a close watch on the place. Ample parking front and back. There are no gay rainbow signs but gays go there they were nice enough to out themselves some of them are admitted criminals. Various souvenir t shirts for sale. Various TV sets, " Sorry no news " without prompting. The only place in town that brings in bands. Washrooms are nice. If you are single and looking for a hook up as you pass through town I would recommend this...
