Here under mandatory evacuation from northern wildfires, we were curious to note this restaurant that seemed well decorated.
We decided to try it for supper.
When we arrived we were asked if we had a reservation- we did not. Turns out it was wing night which is apparently very popular and makes it challenging to get a spot. We were under the impression we had the last available non reserved table.
Service was a bit cold and standoffish at times, some of the girls were great and friendly. They seem to work as a team so we saw many different servers. This would be the only area for improvement id say. While I can understand perhaps they were busy or overwhelmed (though the crowd didn’t appear until an hour and a half after we had arrived), we felt a little bit outed as outsiders.
Otherwise? The food was amazing. The menu is pretty expansive, lots of choices. Every single one of us thoroughly enjoyed our food. The fries were probably the best part - of course as a poutine.
The price of the meal was very adequate for the quality and portion size you ended up with.
Parking seems limited but you can always park on the street without issue. It seems easy to reserve online, I would recommend going that route before you show up.
I definitely recommend this restaurant. It doesn’t seem likely to find a neatly decorated and hip spot like this in a small town but this is...
Read moreA lot of my family calls Hudson Bay home, and while I only lived there for a super short time when I was really young, I always enjoy going back to visit.
The last few times I've been there, I saw the Railway Avenue Pub, and wanted to stop in to check it out, but the hours were super erratic. The outside of the place is super cool; tons of character, antiques and vehicles all around, etc, and the pics I'd seen of the interior looked amazing. I've heard of the great food, and really wanted to check it out, but alas, things never lined up.
Until a few weeks ago! I was back in town to visit my grandma, and saw that they were open! We quickly made a reservation for a few of us to go, and we went to check it out.
The interior is even better than the outside, with a ton of character. The service was great, the food (while mostly standard pub type fare of burgers, wings, finger foods, etc) was very tasty and reasonably priced. There were some standouts on the menu, fish tacos (which were awesome), and the fish and chips (which I didnt get to try, but looked amazing).
Hopefully they are able to get the hours and staffing stabilized, and actually run this place, because I think they'll do great with it. I encourage you to check it out if you are able, and I hope that I can stop in again when I'm coming back through this winter for...

I finally got the chance to visit the Railway Avenue Pub for the first time. We made a reservation for a few of us on our way in to Town and ended up being the first ones in their.
The interior is even better than the outside, with a ton of character. The staff was very friendly and our service was was great and food came out fast. The food is mostly your standard pub type food that is reasonably priced. This pub is very unique and be prepared to take photos of it,the second I stepped in there I was wanting to to take photos. I have traveled many places around the world and not seen any thing like it. I feel like this pub can be successful in any small town like Hudson Bay to big city. It is open every of the week at 11AM to at least 11PM except for Sunday when it is closed. I would definitely come back here again when...
