I love Rhubarb for their lamb shank and mashed potatoes which is why I travelled 1h: 30 min away to go eat but today I had the worse experience by the owners themselves self , first she booked us 15 min before the closing of their restaurant ,Without letting us know on the phone that they closed at 8 and google said they closed at 9.So we got there and the first reaction we got from the owner was you are late and I booked you 15 min before we closed and I’ m like this doesn’t make sense how can you book someone 15 min before closing and not let them know ? Their answer was we don’t kick people out at 8 but our kitchen closes then . I have been going to restaurants for years and never was I ever booked to dine 15 min before closing . This is unacceptable rather than blaming your clients for being late, You should maybe focus on empathy , thinking like a customer and acting like a true owner . I proceeded to Repeat to the owner that we drove 1:H 30min Away to be here So can we maybe take our order to go , the answer was no but we can have some fish and chips which was clearly not what we came for . After attempting to Reason with her and honestly tell her that it’s also not my fault if google have them open until 9 she then finally allowed us to have our lamb shank , we were not offered anything else from the menu , the service was ok and the experience was horrible . I’m a part of a minority community and I honestly did not feel welcomed.the owner needs to understand that in life circumstances happens and making bad remarks to your clients is...

Title: A Mixed Bag at Rhubarb

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐

So, I recently gave Rhubarb restaurant a shot, and I have to say, it was a bit of a rollercoaster ride.

Food: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Let's kick things off with the good stuff – the food. I have to hand it to them; the dishes were impressive. From the appetizers to the desserts, they nailed the flavors and presentation. It was a culinary journey worth taking. I can't forget to mention the crispy haddock and seafood chowder – they were really good! The haddock was perfectly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, while the chowder was a delightful blend of flavors.

Service: ⭐ Now, here's where things took a nosedive. The manager seemed like she had a bad day or something. Despite the restaurant being nearly empty, she insisted that our group of five split up into separate tables because of "reservations." It was strange and unwelcoming. Thankfully, one of the waitstaff came to the rescue, but that initial encounter with the manager left a sour taste.

Ambiance: ⭐⭐⭐ On the bright side, the restaurant itself had a nice vibe. The interior was well thought out, and the lighting set the mood just right. It's a shame that the seating hiccup overshadowed this pleasant atmosphere.

All in all, Rhubarb restaurant serves up some great food, but they really need to work on their service and how they manage reservations. With a bit more attention to customer experience, it could be a fantastic...

The atmosphere is great, but one the nights they had live music. The venue is probably a little too small for that, and it was a little hard on the ears while trying to eat. This is by no means to say it was unpleasant, as you can see by my rating. I really enjoyed the meal and the music. It is just not quite big enough for it to be perfect, but it was perfectly enjoyable.

We stayed upstairs, but that is part of the Ocean stone resort so that will be a seperate review.

The Menu isn't huge, but everything they make is excellent. Why list items you are not great at, just to have a bigger menu.

The second night we had a different table and no music and it was totally different vibe. The restaurant is truly charming and the owners have added so many small touches that really enhance the experience. I really love the place and know I will always have a great experience there. She even shared where she bought the amazing table lamps they use. (I am not telling, you will have to visit and charm it out of her yourself.)

If you want to have dinner in a comfortable out of town place, that is will priced and enjoyable, I cannot recommend this place enough. This was our 2nd and 3rd visits and I feel confident in...

Our family visited Rhubarb after a stop at Peggy's Cove, as it's a short distance away. While there is no shortage of dining options nearby, I gave Rhubarb a try because their menu clearly listed Gluten Free options which is important for one member of our family. I was blown away by how good the food was. I don't want to focus on the Gluten Free part, but it's worth mentioning: not only are the Fish & Chips GF by default (prepared in rice flour rather than wheat flour), and not only were the chips prepared in a separate frier from other foods, they are legitimately one of the best I've ever had. I've attached a photo because I had to try to capture how good these are. Three of us ordered these and they got devoured. The fourth ordered the soup of the day and a salad, both of which were delicious. Dining options include a patio which we enjoyed, although the view is mainly of the Oceanstone Resort, which is somewhat underwhelming after some of the nearby ocean views. There are also plenty of tables available indoors, with washroom on the lower level (stairs required). Highly recommended for anyone near Peggy's Cove, anyone staying at the resort, and anyone who needs to eat Gluten Free but doesn't want to give up Fish and Chips :)

What a great place! Both the food and service was phenomenal and we even met the owner who was very friendly and compassionate about people and her restaurant. Beautiful art work and decor throughout with an outside dining option available...this place is truly a hidden gem! I ordered the Saturday Night Burger. This was the best burger I have ever had! Flavored with a wonderful blend of seasonings...there is no comparison to any other! The soup was Apple Turnip...absolutely delicious! Words can not describe the taste...it is a must try! The mixed salad was fresh and so pretty that it was almost a shame to destroy it's beauty. We also ordered the pizza of the day...the crust was thin and light and the toppings were just enough to satisfy our tastebuds. All in all...a pleasant experience and escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. I am anticipating another trip to Peggy's Cove, from Yarmouth, just for this restaurant. A special thank you to our waitress for being so accommodating and having patience with us while trying to decide what to order. A small menu but something for everyone! Not to forget dessert...they had a great selection of cookies...I couldn't decide, so bought one of each! Yummy!
