Our final night in Cape Breton was met with a very odd experience at this restaurant. We were sat without much issue, but immediately had to contact the wait staff as their air conditioner was dripping water on us. They dealt with this fine. Our food was...difficult. I had chicken parmesan with puttanesca sauce, no complaints. My wife had their lobster dinner, which is served with vegetables and potato salad. Due to a dill allergy we requested the potato salad replaced with smashed potatoes (truffled smashed potatoes are an item on their menu)... She received a very overcooked lobster complete with innards, a bowl of boiled potatoes, and no vegetables. Some slightly steamed carrots were delivered (only after requesting a vegetable). The server was fantastic and I couldn't help but feel badly for the front staff. I would be looking for training for the culinary group in the back. The potential due to fantastic view and beautiful building is there, just not fully utilized.

We saw the mostly negative reviews for the Arduaine, and decided to check it out anyway for dinner. I’m so glad we did! The views and atmosphere are obviously breathtaking, the service was friendly and efficient, and our food was excellent! Fish and chips was a highlight - massive portion, excellent chips and delicious fish. It was perfectly seasoned and moist with a good crispy batter. Steak was slightly underdone (ordered medium-rare, got rare) and not the greatest cut of meat, but it was perfectly seared and well seasoned with a good mushroom and onion sauce. The Nashville chicken sandwich was perfectly decent. Nothing to write home about, but well cooked, moist and flavourful. Apparently ownership and management has changed at some point in the last few years, and it seems like their lunch service may be run differently. Dinner at the Arduaine, however, was excellent! We’ll definitely be going back next time we’re in Ingonish.

We were told there is live music here, so we stopped in for dinner. We found out that the live music is only in the separate lounge. There was elevator music playing in the restaurant that competed with the live music in the lounge. That was disappointing. Oddly, when we were greeted at the hostess station, we were asked if we had a reservation. We stated that we didn't, and the hostess said she would try to squeeze us in. There are about 25 tables in the dining room, and there were only people sitting at two of them. We got a table for 2 right by the window with a fabulous ocean view. Only a few more people came in while we were eating. The next disappointment came with the fish & chips. I would not recommend ordering it. The batter was too thick in spots and uncooked and slimy in the middle. See attached photo. After we ate, we went into the lounge and enjoyed the live music by Chad. That was worth the visit. Bravo, Chad 👏

We travelled through Quebec, NB, NS and PEI on a 20 day road trip and I have to say this was the absolute worst food we had during our entire road trip which is mind blowing because it should have been the best considering this is the restaurant serving guests who stay at the prestigious Keltic Lodge. What a disappointment. We started out with two local draft beers which were completely flat. We had to send them back. The bottled beer and the different draft beer we ordered were fine. We ordered our son pizza which was clearly frozen boxed pizza and not homemade. My wife and I shared wings and fries. The fries were soggy, and not crispy at all. The wings were the same but also had no flavour. I’m quite sure the wings were also frozen bagged wings.. The absolute worst dish was what grandma ordered. An $18 mixed green salad which was quite literally a small handful of mixed leaf lettuce that you buy from the grocery store with a small piece of cucumber on top dressed with garbage bottled salad dressing. We’ve never felt so ripped off. Grandma sent the salad back and didn’t bother asking for anything else because everything they brought out was just so bad and likely prepared by under paid college students… I’m not kidding when I say that this restaurant would be the perfect candidate for Gordon Ramsey’s kitchen nightmares. They need to reassess their entire business plan. I would hire a real chef to come in and completely change everything around. They should not be charging what they charge and serving food that is barely edible. Not to mention the price! If you’re going to overcharge guests at least back it up with a quality meal. Like I said the Lodge should be serving the best food in the region but they are serving the worst. I would be humiliated if I were a server and I had to deliver these dishes to guests tables. Management should be ashamed of themselves for charging people these astronomical prices for food that should be donated to an animal shelter. The ONLY good thing about this place was the service and the live music hence the two star review.. If I was just reviewing the food and the flat beer a 1 star review would be too high. I really hope they take this post seriously- guests deserve better. Otherwise our...

Came in for dinner last night, hostess was awful. The dining area was far from full and she said they had large groups coming in and couldn't seat us. She repeated that they were at capacity three times before saying we could sit in the lounge for a drink until we could be moved to the dining area. We asked if we could order food in there and she said yes but it would take a very long time because they were "so busy" setting up for this other group. We didn't have a lot of options at the time and sat down, she didn't even bring us menus, we retrieved those ourselves.

We ordered nachos as an appie, they were subpar but the entrees (lobster risotto, cod...etc) were good. Not entirely sure the value is there for the price though. Food arrived in a reasonable amount of time, however the large group(s) never did and the dining room remained empty throughout despite the hostess literally trying to turn away our business.

They were set up for the Stanley Cup final to play in a couple hours and some live entertainment in the lounge. The atmosphere was the best thing this restaurant had to offer last.

If the service would have been better I would recommend this place to friends, however it's hard to overlook this almost outright refusal of service and so I'm giving it 3 stars despite wanting...

Thank you for ruining my birthday dinner. When planning my travels to Cape Breton, I had decided to book this restaurant for my birthday dinner. I was so excited to celebrate with my family. The service was painfully slow and the restaurant was not even full. We ordered a second round of drinks and cancelled it as we had finished dinner and got tired of waiting. My daughter ordered a mocktail that was basically lime juice. And the quality of food was horrible. I would be ok with the slow service if the food was good but NOPE!! In addition- we did feel a bit sided as the staff members were speaking and timely servicing guests that were white and us being the only coloured people there did not seem to matter as much I guess. It was so bad that even my young daughter noticed. I will never be going back to this place again. On a side note. I tried to get reservations to stay at their cottages as well but no one responded to my calls, emails or returned my voicemail - I guess my name was not too...
