Delightful Family Dining Experience at Coastal Restaurant Our family of six recently dined at the Coastal Restaurant in Ingonish, NS, and it was an unforgettable experience! From the moment we walked in, we were warmly welcomed by the friendly staff who immediately made us feel at home. The ambiance was cozy and inviting, perfect for a family gathering. The menu offered a wide variety of delicious options, catering to both adults and kids. We were especially impressed by the fresh seafood dishes, bursting with local flavors and expertly prepared. The kids loved their meals too, with plenty of options that kept them happy and satisfied. Service was impeccable – attentive without being intrusive, and our server was knowledgeable about the menu, offering excellent recommendations. The restaurant's commitment to using local ingredients was evident in the quality and taste of every dish. We also appreciated the restaurant’s family-friendly atmosphere and a welcoming vibe that made dining with kids a breeze. It’s not often that we find a place that balances great food and a comfortable, family-oriented setting so well. Overall, Coastal Restaurant provided a wonderful dining experience that our family will remember fondly. We highly recommend it to anyone visiting Cape Breton – it’s a gem you won’t want to miss! A must stop on your trip around the Cabot Trail!

We were excited to try this spot given the great reviews. Our server was really nice and attentive. Unfortunately, the experience was overal disappointing due to the food. Everything we ate felt like it came out of a bottle from the supermarket. We ordered the crab dip ( which it is what this place is famous for and featured in food network) however, besides the naan, which seem to be seasoned in the restaurant, the dip felt like mayonnaise and french dressing has been mixed with crab. The main ingredient taste ( the crab) was masked since the dip was too sweet. We ordered the mussles , the portion was generous, however a bit more broth and more seasoning in the broth will make this dish much better. We also order the pan fried haddock, which came with fries and steamed vegetables. The haddock needed seasoning ( some simple salt and pepper before cooking will make this dish much better), the fries were fine, however I was very dissappinted to receive frozen vegetables. The last item we order was a garden salad which was also dissappointing because of the lack of a fresh-homemade vinagrette. In terms of price the restaurant has really cheap prices given the amount of food you get, however it is at the cost of the quality that they put on the plate.

We went to the Coastal for a late dinner on a super busy night in early August, and although the lineup was out the door, we were welcomed with open arms. After enjoying a drink and some banter at the bar while we waited, we were seated on the patio and served by Drew..... super server extraordinaire 🙂 Even after the extremely busy night that the crew.. and Drew had had, we were greeted with smiles and felt very welcome. Thanks guys... and gals!! The mussles, chicken cesar and Drunken sailor were over the top good and servings were healthy in size... but don't leave the place without trying the cinnamon roll skillet...OMG!! The local pinot grigio was also very good.... maybe too good 😉 We were last to leave that night and it felt like we were leaving a family get together. Thanks to the Costal team.... and man do they work like a team! Drew and gang, you made our visit special. Good luck to you and your wife with your next steps into the teaching world.... the kids will love you! A loooong review, but we'll deserved.... You gotta eat here!! 🙂

I'd give here a 3.5 based on a lunch visit on a Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend. My friend and I arrived right at about noon and there were others in their cars at the same time. I think this is a popular place for locals and tourists. I just noticed that they are closed for the season now, so it also being their last season of the year, that may have made it busier than usual. Anyway, very friendly service and we were seated at a table immediately. There may be about 10 tables in total/seating for 40-50? Basic pub with wooden tables, some random beer signs. It filled up immediately but there weren't many people waiting in line at that point, I think one family when we left at about 1:00. Anyway, the food was quite good. I had their infamous 'Ringer' Burger (13.99 6ox burger topped with ringer sauce/a bbq sauce, onion rings, bacon & mozzarella). It was very moist, flavorful and satisfying with the best part being the presentation - it comes with a knife sticking into the bun - very murderesque! LOL) My friend had the Roast turkey dinner (17.99 traditional turkey served with cranberry sauce, homemade dressing, choice of potato). He got the mashed potato which was very good, there was also carrots & peas. He was very satisfied overall and had I not been so interested to see the burger, I would've probably had the turkey as well. Maybe next year! It also came with a choice of small dessert between a brownie and apple crisp. To be seasonable, obviously he got the crisp. I ended up eating more of it b/c he was too full. Tasty warm apple with good crunchy bits and perhaps a caramel sauce? Topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. They have no beers on tap, nor any local craft beers, so we just had a bottle of Keith's and a bottle of...

Take a minute and read my review, you'll see why you should support this restaurant. They not only have great pub food, they have outstanding staff and go above and beyond.

We travel to Ingonish several times during the summers and often stop at Coastal for a meal. Last year in our last visit of the season, I ordered the 150 Burger and fell in love. I never try anything out of the box when it comes to burgers but I decided to give it a whirl and was instantly blown away.

Fast forward to 5 weeks ago, we returned to Ingonish and went straight to Coastal to enjoy the burger I've been talking about for a year. It wasn't available on the reduced menu. Talk about a major bummer...however:

My husband went on Facebook and messaged then asking if it was possibly coming back in the future....they told him to give them a heads up when we would be returning and they would put it on a house special so we could have it! We returned last weekend to celebrate our anniversary and both had amazing 150 Burgers.

Talk about service and outstanding customer relations!! We had a young gentleman as our waiter both times and he was also outstanding and friendly.

Best service, hands down....ever. Do yourself a favour and stop by if you're looking for delicious and filling food on your way around the...
