On our great journey across Canada, we made a pit stop at Burger Station.
Purely blissful post-coital meal.
It's a spacious diner-like and Greek-owned joint that evokes memories of better times before the towers fell. Before the Patriot act. When you could still smoke on an airplane, and enjoy an ice cold Coors light while you drive home from work with no seatbelt on. When you could enjoy a decent meal for under 15 dollars and there was no TikTak. We honestly don't undertand that TikTak app (#WeStandAgainstTheCCP). Our (least favourite) daughter Susan (such a disappointment) never puts the thing down. But we digress.
6 eager and attentive employees were at the ready upon our arrival. The owner was very friendly and even introduced us to his own daughter, who was manning the till. All the items on the menu have creative locomotive inspired names. Variety is plentiful and the toppings are unique. There is something for everyone - even dwarves (little people??) and vegetarians. They also have deep fried pickles served with ranch sauce. RANCH sauce - KEY PLAY.
Great variety of items - dessert menu was incredible, large portions too, but ZOOWEEMAMA!!! that root beer smelled like farts.
Bathrooms were spacious and fairly clean, with changing tables for all you single mothers out there.
If you are human and/or like eating food, you will enjoy Burger Station.
We're interested in a catering option as we would love to enjoy these dishes at the wedding of our favourite daughter - not you Susan.
Food 4.5/5 - Burger could be juicier Service 5/5 - Friendly staff Atmosphere 5/5 - Cool decor, trains and racecars Susan 0/5
Highly recommended. Amazing staff, great food, location is out of the way but Chang certified - take a detour to the Burger Station,...
Read moreCHARGED $7 TIP ON $32 BURGER MEAL WITHOUT CONSENT
We came here for lunch for 3 burgers with a combo which costed $32 after taxes. Before I paid, a prompt for tip came up on the credit card terminal and I selected "No Tip". Right after that, the amount of $39 flashed across the screen really quickly. However, when I received my receipt, the amount indicated was $32. I then checked the amount charged to my credit card on my watch and it confirmed the amount I was charged was indeed $39.
So I went back to the counter, to question the girl who rung me up, saying that my receipt indicates $32 when I was actually charged $39 on my credit card. The girl went to an older lady and said I didn't want to tip. The older lady reviewed the transactions and said she will refund me the $7.
When I questioned what happened and shared that I selected "No Tip", she said the girl that rang me up press the incorrect button on her end. I would like to give benefit of the doubt that the "wrong button" was pressed, but it seems improbable that the merchant would have the ability to select the tip amount on their terminal, exactly right before I pressed "No Tip" on my end. And in addition, the fact that I was provided with the receipt for $32 instead of the receipt with the tip included of $39 seems suspicious.
Long story short, make sure to check your credit card if you visit this place. They may over charge you and not provide you with the accurate receipt so you may not realize it...
Read moreI've driven by this place for years and as it's an hour drive from home it's not always a convenient option (to and from my dad'splace). The food is AMAZING!! The price matches that, but if you're looking for quality for the price it can't really be beat. I wish I had taken pics, even though everything was only warm after the 50 minute drive home. So GOOD!! My husband loves the Train Wreck, 3 patties of amazing hamburger, cheese and bacon, and he usually keeps 1 pattie for lunch the following day.
Last time I had chicken souvlaki, this time I had something like the loaded train burger ( I didn't find what I ordered on their website), it had onion rings, cheese, bacon, 1 pattie and BBQ sauce (which I had removed as I don't like BBQ sauce on my meat). OMG, even kinda warm, it was SO GOOD!
I heated up the fries in the oven and they were still great (my fault for leaving them in a tiny bit too long).
There's an A&W closer to the 400, but if you want incredible food and you have a little extra $, so worth going a little bit west of the 400 on hwy 89. You'll thank yourself for it later, if you don't eat too much.😜 Also, they serve Kawartha Dairy ice cream, not something I can get due to my drive, but that's...
