Quickest thing to spoil a meal, rude table service. Staff and quality of food need to match the price charged and whilst the other staff or owners had little to do with me, the waitress though insisting she was not overworked had too little time to stop long enough for me to complete my order not pause to think, she seemed to forget this was meant to be a dining experience perhaps a treat for many and not a fast food joint. She was polite and smiled sometimes and in the next breath she was visibly agitated if anything didn't go smoothly which she seemed to seem your fault because "you're just the dumb annoying customer" who is keeping the place viable, right? This was the vibe. If she waitress had not been on such an unsettling, anxious rush all the time it might have felt a little more like a fine dining dinner experience than a sports bar lunch. Thank goodness for the company I was with. THE FOOD: The ingredients seemed of decent standard sadly they were not made the most of. The beef was by far under cooked, the Yorkshire pudding were over cooked and one was charred, they are an extra charge and should not be as they are cheap as anything to produce and pretty standard fare for the main course ordered ss part of the meal, it's expensive enough for what ot is without pointing out that they wish to charge even more for such a simple thing. The gravy or sauce was delicious, it was only on the prime beef and was insufficient when having Yorkshire puddings, so the meal was rather dry. The vegetables were insufficient though cooked to perfection. Deserts; these too were lack lustre, insufficient sugar content and I'm a person who finds most deserts too sweet! We were all agreeed the deserts were tasteless and "powdery" to the taste and texture. We were all agreed about the excessive attitude in the service, too. The table for four was more suited to 2.5 so the table was definitely cramped for space. It is a small, but cute, quaint, eclectic premises. I would only repeat this experience if the price was much lower, the food and staff were improved or if I was invited as a guest and the choice was not mine. I think the restaurant enjoys more kudos than it deserves due to the lack of competition in...
Read moreI had forgotten about this restaurant. I hadn't been here in about ten years. I was really looking forward to eating here. Love the atmosphere. Loved the country home feel. Very warm and inviting little place. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. Unfortunately, our love ended there. We ordered French onion soup to start. Thought the price of $11.00 was slightly steep, but it's one of my favourite soups. It came, and all I could smell was vinegar, which I believe was overload of sherry or something along those lines. It was filled with very soggy bread and grated cheese that was not melted and bland. I had to send it back. The main course was $40.00. It was prime Rib, mashed potatoes, and veggies. When that came to the table, it was buried in dark gravy on the whole meal. I was never asked if I wanted gravy. I scraped it off as much as I could. The prime rib was okay, not great. Potatoes were okay as well. The veggies could have been delicious, but they had soaked in some type of watery butter and didn't taste very good. Our other main was a poutine. Extremely disappointed for the $13.00 fries and gravy because there were a total of 3 curds, and the rest was grated cheese, and it was drowning in gravy. We could barely see the fries. We were prepared to pay the price for a good meal. We were on a date, and this meal was not worth it at all. We didn't stay for coffee or dessert. I like the location, the staff and the owner but...
Read moreMy wife and I had lunch there today with a group of 35+ other Mustang owners. We were one of the first to get seated and have our order taken. But we were the last to be served. There was only one server and they could have definitely used another. In my opinion for what you got the food was highly over priced. They had 4 different specials for our group to choose from. They were all priced at $15.00 plus HST & tip. My wife had crunchy chicken sandwich and a garden salad nothing special. I had the meatloaf that was nothing more than a hamburger without the bun covered in gravy along with french fries. There only was a small portion of french fries and half of them were tiny burnt pieces. What it looked like happened because I was the last order served they simply dumped whatever fries were left in the fryer on to my plate instead of making fresh fries. So the total bill was 33.90 for an ok chicken sandwich a small garden salad, a small portion of meatloaf and a few fries from the bottom of the fryer. No appetizer. no desert and no drink other than water. Obviously NO TIP. I would never go back there again. A very disappointing meal and ruined my day out with our group. My recommendation is...
