We were standing in line waiting for our order to be taken, when other customers arrived and stepped in front of us. We politely mentioned that we had not yet ordered, and I noted the barista could clearly see we had been waiting to place our order, however this couple went ahead with their order and then we ordered. ($17 for two medium lattes). The second order was larger, involving food. The barista made the second order first, while we stood there waiting for our drinks. Overall it took about 15 minutes to get two lattes, and when we asked if he had forgotten, the barista said “there are customers ahead of you”.
While we love supporting small local businesses, poor customer service ruins the experience. I’ll give the barista this, he did mutter “sorry for the wait” as another barista came out from the back.
