Congrats on earning a 1 star review!
We came in 2 weeks ago on a Sunday before heading back home, as it was our third time in Killarney and we still haven’t visited the town yet we came in and parked in the back I did not know at the time that this was some kind of shipping parking because vehicles are in the back. The wife and I ended parking up, going in and that the lady by the cashier just did not seem happy that I was parked in the back however we were paying customers ($$DOLLAR SIGNS$$) walking in and it did not seem busy during Sunday 11 Am, that would be expecting any deliveries or people parked in the back I don’t think I seen too many people. so we walk in and looking to make an order however the lady behind the counter was too concerned about the jeep parked in the back so she told us to make the order and pay and go move vehicle and was really rude. Hey we were paying customers just wanted to take the food out for the way home (take out). wow ! paid around $30 for a fish chips “They must be fried in “Golden Oil” which back home that stuff is usually around $12 max and we bought a drink as well. I was so close to telling her to keep the fish when I was about to Pay 😂 anyways we will not be coming back unfortunately due to the attitude we received served with the fish we wont be back.It was just a parking spot and no was really back there so we will definitely not be spending our honest money next time. Did I say next time, lmao there wont be a next time. Anyways so too bad it was a good idea thinking about it you know having fish and chips by the harbour it doesn’t sound like a bad idea. However $30 bucks + the level of attitude recieved was Just a major turn off. Did I mention the food yet? it was just lacking taste, this should have costed half the price it was. And for the lady behind the counter, Ima call you (Betty By-Law) keep up the good work 🤓, She should be more concerned about our business than the Jeep parked in the back. I think theres another Fish and Chips that I will try thats 2 minutes away, If I do decide to come back. Put some signage up for god sake’s before acting like a parking maid. Im not one for 1 star reviews unless its been rightfully earned . 🌟 Congratulations, You earned it!
update Sept, 18 2020.
Update from 1 star to 3 star, as this place has seemed to redeem themselves. 2 stars reduced do to our first experience, which we will never forget and 3 stars are still generous in my opinion.
so we ended up coming back after I swore never to be here ever again. the wife says she wants fish and chips so I told her to go in and order fish and chips. apparently now there’s a sweet young girl who has very good customer service!
we’re happy with that 😀
The food taste so much better this time without the level attitude.
we hope to come back again so they may...
Read moreVERY Disappointing Service! My husband and I recently visited the Herberts in Killarney whilst staying at Killarney Mountain Lodge for our Honeymoon. Everyone told us we "must go there", so we popped in this past week. We arrived at 6:20 p..m. and planned to eat outside on the Patio due to COVID. Within 5 min. we experienced the WORST service I have ever seen. We were served by a young blond girl in what looked to be her early 20's. She IMMEDIATELY told us they were "closing in 10 min", without even a Hello or a Smile. We acknowledged this and in being honest, we did NOT check the hours prior to walking over. So we asked if we could eat out on patio even if they were closed which they said was fine. There was also another couple from the Lodge there eating dinner inside and 4 older men sitting up at the counter looking in no hurry to leave. My husband gave his order and then the young gal proceeded to the total, until I said I wanted to order to which she haughtily replied "well I thought you were sharing." Guess she also thinks she is a mind reader. During our wait, she continues to giggle and bat her eyelashes at the four men at the counter while giving us the stink eye and making a huge scene of locking all the doors. We ate outside as planned and one person in that entire place came out and asked us if we were OK and where to dispose of garbage when done. This restaurant may be "world renowned" but the Service is NOT. With a population of only 450 approx. many of the local businesses rely solely on Tourism to operate. Having been in retail and sales my entire life, treating people kindly and without judgement is the MOST important tool you can ever learn. Someone need to teach this little girl a life lesson on...

Ordered the adult meal and small meal today. Everything was very good. The fish was on point. Crispy batter on the outside that wasn't over oil and fresh fresh fish on the inside. It was so damn good.
The fries were on point too. Very crispy and hot out of the fryer.
Coleslaw was seasoned well and much better than previous time.
Price is very high. I think they have gone up, just like everything else in the world. But the price is near unreasonable for some fresh fish and potatoes. $30.71 for the adult. $18.64 for the small meal.
One thing to note. It was not busy today when I went. There were no lines to order or to pick up. Perhaps when it's very busy, quality goes down a bit? Just a hypothesis.
P.s. ask for the Kraft tarter sauce. The Old Style one is of much lesser quality. Tastes fatty with less flavor. When's the last time you saw a bottle of Old Style tarter sauce since being sold on grocery store shelves?
Previous review:
Expensive and okay
It's always a place to stop by if you are in Killarney. It will definately hit the spot after a long canoe trip in Killarney.
Fish is crispy and not too oily. Fries are okay. Tartar sauce is packaged stuff. They only give one tiny package so ask for more if that's your thaaang.
Coleslaw is meh. Nice to change up the taste.
Would I go here on the regular? No. One time thing cuz u are visiting sure. Do I go in Sudbury since they have a location there? No, cuz it's a...
