Chinese-Canadian cuisine at it’s best. People who talk about Chinese Canadian food not being “authentic” are dismissing the generations of Chinese Canadian chefs and cooks who created an entire CUISINE to feed the people of the area they were in. This place is great. We ordered a four piece combo: chow mein, sweet & sour pork and beef and mixed vegetables (three titans of the cuisine!) that came with two spring rolls that were so fresh and so clearly handmade that we instantly regretted not ordering more. The sweet and sour pork was very substantial, nice big pieces of pork, crispy batter and that ubiquitous orange sauce with pineapples and vegetables. The mixed vegetables were well seasoned and cooked perfectly tender crisp. It was a simple meal, but so fresh and had the flavour of a dish made a thousand times by expert hands. The three dish combo easily could have fed 4-5 people, the portions so generous. But we gladly took it all back to the hotel and had leftovers for lunch. Read moreWe ordered the dinner for 6 while on vacation in Kimberley and enjoyed it a lot - classic American-Chinese fare done very well. Both the sweet and sour pork and the ginger beef were very meaty which was a very nice change from the usual high batter to meat ratio typical to this type of food. The breaded prawns, however, were the opposite which some people may prefer from a chicken ball/breaded shrimp dish.
