Resto-Pub Belles & Bum — Restaurant in La Malbaie

My wife and I went there for a weekend and stayed at the casino hotel nearby. Decided this would be a cool place to try and it was all right. We each had the steak dinner with fries and it was okay. We were told about that famous QR menu as well which gets the couple on their phone. You try to not use your phone cuz you're away on a special occasion and they get you on your phone over there as you're wondering why they wouldn't spend on a nice menu like other restaurants. But anyhow the food was okay. Gave the food three on five service also cuz it wasn't too quick and also the atmosphere. It was one other table and it was like 7:00. It was really dead. Okay. We were on the off season so that excuses this but I would not go back unfortunately. Next time we'll try other places around there instead. Do have to say though that maybe if you're younger then you want to have some drinks and food. This could be the kind of place to have drinks and then eat but if you're going there as a couple you won't to enjoy yourself if you end up wanting to try it, you might. It's one of those places. That's not great and not bad. I'm sure some people can go there and say it was a great little place. You know how cozy was it? Cool menus you had to use a QR code. The concept is well thought but not popular. The score is good though so I would say go try it. We weren't sick. We felt great. The food quantity was enough for the price was right. It just wasn't like great. You know like you know the steak was not bad and that's that. I mean you get what you pay for it. It's not really a steakhouse right? So it's not bad. For supper, I ordered a standard jack burger, which is a beef burger, and I asked if I could replace the fries by a salad, and the waiter said yes three dollars for a garden salad and four dollars for a Caesar salad so I said OK I’ll take a Caesar salad

I said please, no onions with my hamburger

The hamburger arrived and it was loaded with onions. It was 8 PM and I was hungry so I took the onions out by myself.

But then, when I started eating the hamburger, it was clearly beyond meat and not beef, by the texture and the colour and the taste

Now let’s talk about the salad, as the table next to us that had the very same complaint the salad itself tasted OK, but it was 100% not a Caesar salad. It was some type of garden salad, citrus flavor, no capers, no cheese, and it said that it came with anchovies and it had none.

I got my bill with no credit or no offer to compensate for this horrible meal

Par où commencer... Nous étions 2 couples de passage à la Malbaie et nous avons décidé d'aller souper au Belle et Bum suite aux bons commentaires des autres visiteurs. Mais quelle déception! Pour commencer les 3 bières commandées étaient très flat (pratiquement aucune carbonisation) étant des amateurs de microbrasserie, nous nous attendions à mieux. Pour ma part, le bloody césar goutait l'eau... Concernant les entrées (congelées?), je dois avouer que ce n'était pas mauvais par contre, la portion reçu pour le calmart frit ne valait pas les 18$ que nous avons déboursé. Maintenant, les repas principaux........ Les tartares de saumon et de thon étaient vraiment moyen. Ces derniers ne semblaient pas frais mais plutôt avoir été décongelés. Le saumon et le thon ne goutait rien et étaient très baveux dans l'assiette. Nous avions littéralement l'impression de manger les tartares congelés vendus à l'épicerie (exemple marque : Grizzly). De mon côté, la salade au poulet grillée semblait être une blague. Premièrement, la portion de salade comblait à peine le fond de l'assiette et il n'y avait pratiquement aucune vinaigrette. Sinon le poulet ''grillé'' était froid et très sec. Lorsqu'on commande une poitrine de poulet grillée, on s'attend à avoir un beau morceau fraichement grillé et assaisonné mais le mien ne ressemblait pas du tout à cela, bref je n'y ai pas touché. Je n'ai pas eu d'autres choix que de faire un commentaire à la serveuse. Finalement l'assiette a été créditée mais nous avons quand même eu une facteur finale de 75$ pour moi et mon conjoint.... Bref, c'est la première fois que nous avons vécu une telle situation. C'est également la première fois que je ressens le besoin d'écrire un commentaire sur une expérience au restaurant. Tout ça pour dire que nous ne recommandons pas! Ma plus grande déception est de lire les expériences négatives des autres clients semblables à la mienne et de voir un propriétaire dire qu'ils ne cessent de s'améliorer et de prendre en considération ces commentaires alors que depuis 2016 la situation semble être la même... Le concept semble être une bonne idée pour cette région par contre je crois fortement que les commentaires constructifs devraient davantage être...
