As a roadside stop this has everything I would want; hot, delicious food, a place for my wife and I to stretch our legs, and a playground for my kids. We were introduced to this place by friends with a cottage on Lac Saint-Marie, and we've made a point of stopping almost every trip up that way since.
Some more things that make Jean-Burger awesome: The gravy. Good, thick, dark poutine gravy. Nobody makes fun of how atrocious my French is. (I swear I'm trying my best!) Six-foot tall pirate guarding the washrooms. Intrigue: There's some urban legend about a shady fire and insurance claim a few years back. I don't believe it or know anything about it but it makes for a better story. Nostalgia: It's the classic story of the popular cottage-country stop that saw the new highway go right around it. Those in the know (and that read Google reviews) still smugly savour our fries, knowing that those poor saps on highway 5 may never know the joys of...
Read moreGreat food and kind staff. I was impressed by the service and appreciated it. I was served well and with a genuine happiness and enthusiasm and with respect. I met the new owner who cooked my burger and he is a really nice kind guy. He has done well. Came here for the first time in the summer and really enjoyed eating here. I dined in and enjoyed it, and have also taken take-out afterwards. Their burgers and poutine are really good. So are the fries. They have a really cool and interesting interior with licence plates from different places, which adds a cool vibe to the place, and makes it a great spot for those on the road. Would highly recommend this place if you like burgers and poutine that are good quality and taste good. A great spot to eat if your on the road travelling or even to just dine in even if you live in the area. A great place to have in the Wakefield area. I am looking forward to...
Read moreThe new management here has put together a solid menu. Last time I had a burger here before the changeover it was like eating a hockey puck, I vowed never to return… yet I am glad I did.
Food was great! The smashed burgers are delicious, the fries are hand cut, not to oily and salted nicely. The service was great, and the wait time was minimal, this kitchen operates well and efficiently. The only slow down was at the cash - it seems like the POS system is challenging for the staff to use.
Ambience was fine, but nothing overly original, yet it was clean and staff checked in on tables regularly.
Prices felt high, but maybe these are the times we live in. Our meal was around 90$ for four of us, without alcohol (which they do have). However, the food was exceptional and I’d put their burgers up against any of the other places in the...
