This is a very descent sushi restaurant. The variety of the menu is amazing! The food is delicious and well-prepared. I have had Japanese food in many many restaurants all over the world, including in Japan. I must say the food at Sushilab is pretty good and on par with some of the best sushi places I've been to. The ambiance is fitting, relaxed and definitely in keeping with the type of restaurant it is. The price is quite reasonable. This place even offers all-you-can-eat, and that, three days a week!!
The only reason I am hesitant in giving 5 stars: the service definitely needs improvement. On "all-you-can-eat" days, it may take a loooooong time before you get your food, and as if that's not bad enough, you frequently get the wrong food (something that somebody else, say two tables away from you, had ordered). Now, in all fairness, I must add that if you get to the place early enough (just after it opens at 1700 h), you won't experience delay and everything will be just fine. Also, in the name of fairness, I must emphasize that the waitresses are friendly and courteous alright; no problem there! Only, I'd say, the place needs some more vigorous system of managing the orders in place especially when it gets really busy.
Overall, I'm pleased with this very descent restaurant.... Kind of an "oasis" in the North, .... for sushi lovers...
Read moreFirst and last time I will ever eat here. By far, the worst dining experience I've ever had (and I've had some terrible dining experiences in this town and elsewhere) for several reasons. The Sushi was fine, but everything else was greasy and the chicken panini I had was overpriced for something that was tough and nearly inedible - it was like something that had been peeled off a sidewalk. The service was terrible. It took nearly 30 minutes to get a cup of tea and that was after 2 reminders. When the tea did come, we had to flag someone down to get sugar and cream and only two packets of sugar and two creamers were brought to the table for 3 people. We then had to try to find another server to provide adequate quantities for everyone. Finally, dining options outside of the 'all you can eat' menu were poorly presented and not part of the iPad ordering system that they have. For diners with a smaller appetite, a waitress must be flagged down to place the order and food therefore arrives much much later than everyone else at the table. There's no point in having technology if you don't use it to actually improve the dining experience and ease of ordering for...
Read moreI've gone to Sushi Lab for my birthday recently. We went on a Friday (not all you can eat on this day) at around 6:30PM and it was pretty much empty. The place was clean and spacious, decor was quite nice. When it was time to order, we learned that the menu was being changed. We ordered sushis, spring rolls, and two main courses, a chicken pad thai and the teriyaki chicken. The waitress was very nice. Food came quickly. The sushis were okay and the spring rolls were small. My pad thai was inedible, way too salty and dry. I hate wasting food, but I took 4 bites and didn't bother to bring the rest home, so don't order that. The teriyaki chicken was very good accordingly to other people in the party though! Not a terrible experience, but some items on the menu are definitely...
