After a long hot weekend and celebrating a birthday, I decided to take the dogs for a cool evening walk in our favourite country spot. We are currently in Calgary, so that was a deliberate drive for us and I chose DQ as I love their coffee and fresh burgers, additionally, when I was younger I both worked for and managed DQ's so I know the emphasis they place on customer service. This one has none. I ordered a coffee with my meal and was told they don't do that. I was confused and said, you don't serve coffee with a meal? I used to manage a DQ and I've never heard of that. From that moment the young lady took a tone and I could hear her sighing. I won't get into the details because it doesn't matter. The point is that you don't get to treat customers like an inconvenience because you are a small location with a small mindset. It should be the opposite. There is a beautiful little coffee shop that excels at customer service. And Tim's is also established. Families come here with their kids for ice cream and expect to be treated good. I get it if the coffee is turned off for the night and unavailable, but then you politely state that. When I got to the window she was rude, shot very rude looks that stated there was no tolerance for stating coffee should be an option. What I assume was her manager came to the window and she did apologize and explained the young lady didn't know coffee was an add on option. However - that to me does not suffice. I spent $13 on a burger meal which is pricey on it's own. The young lady clearly wanted to remain difficult and posture to win the argument. I would fire her if that was me because she made no attempt to unwind. Young people need to be guided and learn that being asked and corrected on something someone has ordered for years is not a personal attack on them. They need to learn to not work based on their personal feelings. This is the hospitality industry and if you don't like the job...get another one. I did get the coffee as per the acting supervisor and it was a very good cup of coffee and I was...
Read moreThis was my second attempt to order something at the Langdon Dairy Queen. I actually love DQ hamburgers and fries, but I shall have to buy them elsewhere. The first time I went to get ice cream, the drive through was busy, as was the counter service. I elected not to wait. Tonight, on my way home, I was planning on buying dinner and ice cream, and there were only four cars ahead of me in the drive-through. After waiting 10 minutes, a young staff member came out to say to drive past the order screen and order at the window. After waiting another 10 minutes, I was about to back my way out of the drive through lane, when more cars pulled up behind me. By the time I got to the window to order, 25 minutes had passed and there were more cars behind me. I heard the truck behind me order through the outdoor screen, which I wasn’t able to do. Rather than hold up the six vehicles behind me, and because I still would have to wait for my order to be cooked, I choose not to order and drive on. A breezy “sorry” from the window employee was all that was said. Next time I crave DQ, I will drive to Chestermere. Wouldn’t be any longer than waiting in a drive through line for...
Read moreUpdated my review at bottom Well you all lost 3 stars because of your staff member at the front taking orders, could been 5 stars. I personally dont like having to wait 5 min while your cashier chats with ppl about life. i get it, they know you or your family, but its a place of work and other customers have places to be and dont enjoy standing waiting listening to your life. and since i heard the convo, i can say talk after work to them about whats new since they were a friend. other then that, my order was made fast, store was clean, nothing wrong there, but the staff that deals with customers has to be on the ball, they represent your store. pro tip girl that was working. ask your friend to wait a sec take my order, wasnt any one else after me. then go back chatting. sorry about the negative review. will up date if better next time i stop in.
Update. Manager reached out to me and we had a nice phone conversation. Great to see Management being very proactive just based on that i am going to fix my rating from 2 stars to 4 stars. thank you sir. was very...
