UPDATE MARCH 2025: myself and my three best friends went to Jack's for a birthday dinner on Saturday night. I had lived on Bear Mountain and was absolutely addicted to the great yam fries and their in-house made barbeque dip so when I saw they still had yam fries on the menu that's what I ordered. They've clearly gone to a commercial provider because the other fries from back in the day were all different shapes and sizes. They were plank cut, and they were very, very tasty . This time They were rippled in texture and quite sturdy. One of the things I like about yam fries is their pliable and somewhat wiggly. These were like little sticks. I put my fries in the centre and let the girls pick off it, but the barbeque dip was very good but just beyond disappointed to see commercial product when I had so enjoyed fresh ones earlier. We got seated in the outdoor enclosed area and the cold from that big windows absolutely froze the two of us sat near it. We did ask for the overhead heat to be turned up, but she never did it. Very loud lots of younger people there which is great but the level of noise in the glassed in eating area a lot echoed and we could barely hear each other at times..... one girlfriend had the chicken Caesar wrap which was delicious. Another one had the sliders but her buns were so hard she didn't enjoy it
ORIGINAL POST: I’m a regular and live on the mountain and Jacks is a reliable, tasty option that rarely disappoints. I met a friend for dinner a few weeks ago and it was NOT up to par on a usual Saturday which wasn’t busy (4-6:30 pm). My friend had the steak sandwich and I had the spring rolls. Both were horrible - I don’t cook steak at home because I do a disservice to it and this steak looked like something I’d cook - overdone & gray with a generous amount of potatoes which my friend had asked NOT to have (carb addict). My spring rolls were like tons of wet clay with both noticeable except the enormous amount of bean sprouts. My experience with spring rolls is a crisp, crunchy shell with a nice interior- these were horrible and, unusual for Jacks, I did not finish them OR take them home. Our waitress did not ask how they were (I think she KNEW what I’d say) so my friend told her how I disliked them. Although we did not request a reduced bill she told us her manager would only allow a 10% reduction in price. I was more insulted by that than anything!! Then the Manager came out on to the patio and was muttering and obvs NOT in a pleasant mood, scowling and observing his ‘domain’ like a fickle toddler where we easily overheard him complaining about a recent group arrival. I am now used to the show off crowd with their fancy vehicles who high 5 each other and hug the waitresses (just gross to watch).....if u can get past the sense of self entitlement in the air Jacks is a gem although this event was a piece of glass and NOT the diamond food I’m accustomed to when dining in or...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Jake's Place Bear Mountain, and I can confidently say that the experience exceeded all expectations. The star of the show? Their unbelievably delicious BBQ Pizza. I have yet to taste a pizza that is as flavorful and satisfying as the one served at Jake's Place.
From the moment I stepped into the restaurant, I was greeted by friendly staff who made me feel right at home. The cozy and inviting atmosphere added to the overall dining experience. The service was prompt, attentive, and knowledgeable, ensuring that every aspect of my meal was exceptional.
Now, let's talk about the star of the show - the BBQ Pizza. Words cannot adequately describe the explosion of flavors that awaited me with every bite. The crust was perfectly crispy, and the combination of tangy BBQ sauce, melty cheese, and savory toppings was a match made in culinary heaven. The pizza was cooked to perfection, with just the right balance of ingredients, ensuring that each bite was a harmonious blend of flavors.
The menu at Jake's Place Bear Mountain offers a variety of options, but it was the BBQ Pizza that stole the show for me. However, I must mention that the other dishes I saw being served around me looked equally delicious, and I'm eager to try them on my next visit.
In addition to the exceptional flavors, the portion sizes were generous, ensuring that I left the restaurant feeling completely satisfied. The attention to detail in both presentation and taste was evident in every aspect of the meal.
The ambiance at Jake's Place Bear Mountain was casual and welcoming, making it an ideal spot to unwind and enjoy a fantastic meal. The friendly and attentive staff, coupled with the outstanding BBQ Pizza, made this dining experience one to remember.
I highly recommend Jake's Place Bear Mountain to all pizza lovers and anyone looking for a delightful dining experience. The attention to detail, incredible flavors, and warm atmosphere ensure that your visit will be an unforgettable one. I can't wait to return and indulge in their mouthwatering BBQ...
Read moreWe were part of the retirement party that had a table from 5-7pm a few Saturdays ago. I would like to share my experience that evening.
My wife and I arrived about 20 minutes late. We were seated and ordered our drinks. When they arrived, we ordered our food--the sushi platter for my wife and the steak and sushi (one of my all time favourites) for me. The sushi arrived promptly. My order arrived much later (my wife had almost finished her dinner) and it was not correct (steak sandwich). The young lady took it back and assured me that it will only take a few minutes to correct.
While I was waiting for the dinner I ordered to arrive, a few things happened:
A table of four arrived, received their drinks, food, a second round of drinks, paid their tab and left. People at the other end of our table received another round of drinks. Despite trying several times to make eye contact with our server, she not once looked our way or checked if the food was okay or if we needed another drink. I ordered a drink from the young lady who was clearing our table. It never arrived. Our host was told several times by our server that we had to be cleared by 7pm. I still haven't received my food.
My dinner arrived at 6:50. The steak looked like it had been sitting under the heat lamp since I had sent it back. I sent it back again.
To summarize, our server interacted with us three times: once to take our drink order, once to take our food order and once to present us with the bill--no explanation or acknowledgement that anything went wrong.
I contacted management via email to inform them of our experience and they asked for a chance to make things right. I suggested that a comp for our last bill (which was under $50, and I regret paying) would be a reasonable gesture on their part. I have yet to...
