Pop's Taphouse North — Restaurant in Lethbridge

The server who mostly dealt with us was friendly and attentive enough. Went for the first time on a Thursday night. My fiancé had the wings - was the special and a pepsi, no complaint there. They were pipping hot, lots of sauce and a good deal. I had a beef dip with waffle fries. The beef dip it's self was fine - nothing special, my 7 waffle fries were good... but $15.5 I'd like to think I'd get more then a sauce dish of fries for that price or a more impressive size sandwich. Which brings me to my drink....$7 for a virgin pina colada made with powder and wrong. Powdered coconut mix and I didn't even get pineapple juice, it was orange drink mix, not even real OJ! Expensive crap! I'd like to tell you I was drunk or mistaken but I've been in the food business long enough to know what is what and I was completely sober . The only thing they nailed on it was texture. My mom had the fish and chip dinner. It was boxed fish, 3 fairly small pieces not really any bigger then 3 pieces out of a box of highliner. Which I could make sure wasn't over cooked at home. She also ordered a monte cristo, the coffee was unpleasantly strong to say the least - got mudd? My mom was treating us so I didn't see the bill total until the next day, if I had of known, I would of spoken up before we left. It's been bugging me over the weekend. $62 and I think "never again should of gone to Wendy's" Had I know the ridic price of my drink and mom's drink and fish dinner she had that was over cooked, they would of gone back..

I've had take out from the south - 2 burgers, will admit was crazy good, chintzy on the fries but I just assumed it was because they were hella busy (standing room only) and was an accident - apparently not.

I wanted to give a good review, I usually find favor with pub food but this just felt like a big rip off. It's a rare time I didn't speak up because my fiancé and mom are mild mannered and I'm kicking...

We hadn’t been to Pops for a while so we thought we’d go as the food is always good there. We were there around 6pm. There were lots of after work crowd there. Most just having drinks. There were no clean tables to sit at. We sat at a dirty table for about 10 minutes before the server even acknowledged us. She finally comes over with menus and asks what we would like to drink. We asked her if she could please clean our table and takes our drink order. So she takes the menus back and again we had to wait for her to come back and clean our table. She then leaves to go and get the menus (another wait) so we can look over them. We had been in the restaurant about 25 minutes before we even got drinks. We order our food and again it was another long wait before it was served. When we got our food, it was OK. Not the worst meal I’ve ever had but definitely not great. Not what it used to be. Fries were barely warm. The bread on our clubhouse was hardly even toasted and more on the dried outside. We didn’t bother to complain. She never came back to the table and we didn’t wanna have to wait anymore. We didn’t get a refill on our drinks. The bartender didn’t leave his post from behind the bar to even help the server clear and clean tables. I saw other patrons taking their empty glasses and bottles to the bar themselves and order their own drinks as the service was very slow. As slow as the service was, the bartender and the server both found time to be on their cell phones. I have been a server. I know how things can be when they are busy, and I am very understanding of this when I go out. But last night it was just poor service and OK food. Our bill was $120 for four people. Far too much money for the experience, we got at Pops. Very disappointing as the food and service has always been...

I went in with my friend and we weren’t even greeted by our server. Didn’t get a hi how’s it going, her name, specials, or anything. She just asked us for our ID’s which I get I’m also a server so but maybe introduce yourself and smile??? Then we ordered our food and she forgot my modification I made to my burger which I would’ve assumed would’ve happened because she didn’t have a notepad or anything and when I ordered she repeated a totally different burger back to me. Then when my friend was ordering she cut her off mid sentence and just walked away with our menus. We are eating our food I’m almost done my drink it’s not completely empty and she asks if I want another which I say yes and she TAKES MY DRINK AWAY. I was going to say something because I wasn’t even done with it and she was too fast and I didn’t get a chance to tell her I wasn’t done with it. Never have I went anywhere where my server has taken away a beverage from me when I wasn’t done with it. Maybe ask instead if I’m done with the drink that still has liquid in it and not take it away? I’m probably not going to return. The server seemed to be rushed and not friendly and...
