Booked an outdoor dome for an interesting winter outing. The dome can seat 6 people comfortably and is heated with a small portable heater. Its $20 to rent for 2 hours The staff was fantastic and our waitress seemed to genuinely enjoy serving use, despite the frigid weather. It was -26°C with the windchill.
We ordered a cider each and a glass of wine each. I had the apple cider and my wife had the peach cider. Both were good, the peach being the better of the 2, but I think they would have tested better served on ice, as I found the apple cider to be too carbonated. For wine my wife had the Reisling, which was good but I had the Syrah and it was amazing. I highly recommend it.
For food we order the charcuterie board and the chocolate simpler. Both were fantastic and seemed the perfect amount of food.
Overall we really enjoyed the experience and it made for a nice romantic evening. Sitting in the dome as the sun set over the snow covered fields was truly a unique experience.
Our only disappointment was that it was absolutely chilly inside the domes. There was a small heater that was horribly inadequate at warming inside. We had to keep our heavy winter coats on and even placing the heater directly on our table next to us did little to warm us. We would have stayed longer and spent more money had it not been unbearably cold. We were told after paying our bill that there were blankets we could have used, but it was too late at that point .
Pros: Unique experience Great staff Food was very good Definitely worth it
Cons: Heaters are far too small to heat the domes, resulting in a less than comfortable time. Dress as though you are...
Read moreA fantastic experience! At the beginning of March, my husband and I arranged for a last-minute date in a Wine Dome at Fielding Estates in Beamsville. We had a wonderful time! We called and booked the last time-slot of the day, which was from 4:00 PM until 5:30 PM. The dome was very spacious for the two of us, and there was seating for six people. It was also heated, so it was warm and cozy. There were blankets at each chair, just in case the weather turned colder.
Our dome was located nearest the winery building, so we had an excellent view of the vineyards, of the pond that was adjacent to the building, and also of Lake Ontario in the distance. That afternoon was a mix of sun and clouds, so the weather cooperated for us!
The service was impeccable. Every single staff member was friendly and helpful. Within minutes of arriving at the winery's bar, we were escorted to our dome. Our server showed us how to operate the heater, and explained the menu. There isn’t a restaurant at the winery, so a cheese tray and a charcuterie board were the only food options. My husband and I ordered a charcuterie board; he ordered a flight of red wine; and, I had a glass of lemonade. My husband even ordered a second glass of red wine, as he enjoyed the wines he had tasted in the flight. Everything was delicious! And, the price was very reasonable as well.
As the sun started to set, the scenery was stunning.
This was a very romantic date in the late afternoon on a Thursday. I’d highly recommend the Wine Domes at Fielding Estates! We’ll be back,...
Read moreHad a great time with family in the Wine Dome yesterday. The atmosphere is amazing! It was the day after a snowstorm so there was fresh white snow all around the domes, adding to the experience. Inside was comfy and warm. Staff was super friendly and attentive, although we did feel a little rushed as we were reminded on more than one occasion that the visits were timed. I recognize that staff were concerned because two of our party were 10mins late but two of us were seated on-time and had drinks ordered immediately. 1 hour and 20mins is still plenty of time for drinks and lunch without the pressure of checking our watches constantly instead of focusing on the experience.
We ordered grilled cheese, which were tasty but arrived already cold and therefore extra crunchy. This is in no way the fault of the chef or the wait staff, rather the result of poor presentation of food during winter months. It was -5 outside + wind chill and hot food was served beautifully on a large plank....looks great but while staff is walking outside and unzipping the dome the food immediately became cold. Perhaps during winter months, alternatives can be used such as a cloche to keep food hot. That being said the taste of the lobster grilled cheese was spot on!
All in all we had a good time and highly recommend the experience and wines at Fielding...
