Favourite winery in the bench for the last few years. They have been consistently high quality wines and their top wines are excellent and well worth the price. Their Download and Petit Verdot (when you can get them) are my favourites, and the Mischief is a solid crowd pleaser and very glou glou. This year, the Sacrilege White and the Rosé really won me over also. I generally don't love rosés from Ontario; I like lighter, super dry, more herbaceous or salinic rosés, and sometimes the more medium bodied french-style ones, and they changed grapes and style to a very light Provencal for this vintage, and it sold me completely.
Our server was the daughter of the owner, and at 19, she was SO knowledgeable and you can hear the passion in her voice as she talked. She talked us through the varietal choices in blends and how they work with each other in the blend itself, the terroir and how the vintages affected each grape, even how she worked the field and the timing of the vine netting, everything. So, don't let her youth fool you if she helps you, she was my favourite person to talk to our entire day at wineries!
Worth the stop.
Only downside: no washroom available to public use, but they do have a portapotty. If you need one, go across to Hidden bench for a...
Read moreWe came to this winery by chance on a Tuesday in off season - we had originally stopped at Hidden Bench and were turned away from their tasting room because we didn’t have a reservation (on a Tuesday afternoon in off season 🤷♀️) but this ended up leading us to Organized Crime and am I ever thankful for this bit of happenstance. Ania, one of the owners, spent so much time with us, telling us all about the vineyard, its history, the terroir, and of course leading us through a tasting. I was blown away by the quality of their wines. We had earlier in the day been to one of the bigger name wineries in the area (who I won’t name because they were very nice there and I don’t want to shade them) and the wines at Organized Crime were consistently better. So much so that I signed up to their wine club. So if you’re in the area do make the effort to visit their tasting room - you won’t regret it (but your wallet might because you won’t be able to leave without a box of their...
Read moreI want to give a shoutout to one of our favorite wineries in Niagara, Organized Crime Winery. They have been named as one of the top 10 small wineries in Canada 4 out of the last 6 years. We have been a fan for over 10 years and every time we are in the area we stop by.
Well we just received a wine club shipment from them via Canada Post and many of the bottles had leaked or corks popped. I sent them an email and they called me literally 3 minutes later, offering to send a new shipment tomorrow. They said that this is the second time it has happened, the other time also with Canada Post after the strike.
My guess is that the wines were allowed to freeze.
Anyway, thank you to Ania, proprietor, for your outstanding service and excellent wines! ...
