This is exactly the experience of “One man’s meat is another man’s poison”. Since I was in Pitt Meadow, I googled for a good restaurant around, hoping to have a nice meal in a nice decor. When Google Map showed Home Restaurant with 4.3 stars and 1,124 photos, I looked no further! When I arrived at the outside entrance of Home Restaurant where some customers were waiting to be called in, I was joyfully excited about how busy the restaurant was and felt sure that I had come to the right place. I liked the bright and comfortable interior setting of the restaurant, the pretty looking young hostess who seated me in a cheerful booth with a nostalgic picture on the wall, and the courteous male server who patiently gave me minutes to decide what to eat - the glass of hot water he brought with a slice of lemon placed on the edge of the glass and some honey was just wonderful! I was wholeheartedly content until my first bite of the salty mashed potato and the salty gravy on my roasted beef. I looked around - every one was happily eating; I looked out the window through the drapes - people were keeping coming. I knew it was just my personal problem of taste.

Came here after reading a lot of good reviews.. Was seated promptly by the hostess and the ambience was comfortable… Ordered the Farmers Breakfast with German Sausage, Eggs over easy, Rye Bread and Potato Wedges along with Coffee.. Coffee was cold, asked for heated cream and never got it so used the small half-n-half cold cups that came with the coffee Eggs weren’t over easy as requested but the German Sausage was cooked well, toast was soggy and the potato wedges were seasoned well but not crisp at all… Asked for a fresh cup of hot coffee and did get it but it still wasn’t hot enough… The staff wasn’t as prompt or attentive as one would have liked… They do have an extensive menu so will come back here and try other dishes …

Rarely get a night to myself, but this past Friday I did, so I thought I'd grab a barley soup and salad for a quick meal before cleaning my house. I was sorely disappointed to get home and find the soup was wrong. The person who took my order was reprimanded in front of me for once again forgetting to specify what soup and salad was being ordered. The other server asked what soup and the young woman clearly told her barley. Which made it even more surprising when I got home (I walked over) and now had a cream soup to contend with. It was not what I ordered, hugely disappointing, but I wasn't about to waste my night correcting someone else's mistake.

I am a very long time customer of the Home restaurant chain. Frequent the Hope restaurant as many times as possible passing thru. Knowing that the food is always good with thier awesome dessert counter. A piece always goes home. Today I stopped at The Home restaurant in Maple Ridge. Knowing that it takes very good cooking skills to offer up my favorite " Liver and onions". The "Hope " Home restaurant never fails to please. To the point I asked the hostess if thier liver and onions were also a favorite here. She replied yes and that all the restaurant's are consistent.

My partner ordered the clam chowder. She did not complain , however stated she has enjoyed better. I'm a very good cook in that department, however I did not taste it. She asked for two pieces of garlic bread which were sold extra at 3.50$ each. They came three quarters into tge meal looking like they were on the counter from the night before. Again she didn't complain. Just voiced her observation. The liver and onions presentation appeared well. Tasted okay with fresh fries as ordered. However. Due to the temperature differences and the way the coating came off the liver, I suspected it was not fresh and probably microwaved. Tge vegetables looked like they had been scraped off the counter cold. With shriveled pieces mixed in with some laying next to a heat source, dry like a bamboo stick. I mentioned to the hostess politely that although it probably wouldn't kill me. Perhaps its not a good idea to serve food like this to your customers. Eating out is always an adventure. And today yiu just never know what yiur going to get. Never be shy to tell yiur hostess what you think. Its a better compliment than losing 100's of customers. And not knowing why. Thanks. Perhaps we'll give them another...

I hate leaving bad reviews for restaurants but this was our last visit.

The parking was full and we parked at the lot next door which was very empty on a weekday midday. Wanted to check out another store in the area anyways and wash the car, figured we were using the lot as intended.

Hungry, so first stop was the Home Restaurant. We were approached by the Australian parking hall monitor who works at Diamond Stereo. Explaining we wanted to eat and then shop and use the car wash, he got angry about the parking (again, lot EMPTY in the general area).

He then follows us into the restaurant berating us. Staff at the restaurant looked confused and bewildered, as were we. Not sure how an elderly employee of another business feels entitled enough to follow customers into another business. It was alarming, aggressive and I felt so uncomfortable that we decided to not come back to the area in general. It’s hard to support local when unhinged individuals take it upon themselves to act like spoilt 4 year olds.

Home restaurant, consider cameras, or have someone have a chat with this guy. Use single syllables since he is in his own reality and won’t understand basic customer care. I would also suggest RCMP be notified before he escalates and you lose more customers or this becomes more well...

I really really like this place. I enjoy the food alot, and the atmosphere is incredible (at least I like it) It really has a good ambiance and the food is great......

The pies though? I don't think they are as great as they were before. If you do come in after 7:00 (dine in only) you can get a slice for $4.99 (Which would be ok) I personally wouldn't pay more than that, but my friend reported to me, that she really likes the pie (so maybe it's just me) but I do recommend at least coming in after 7:00 to try it for the discount price and if you think it warrants more than $4.99......then come by anytime for pie

The service? the waitresses do a good job for sure. I am glad that some of the waitresses are not overly friendly, and it's like "Hi, can I take your order? Ok, here is your order......let me know when you need your cheque" --- Last thing I need is some smiley waitress, pretending that she cares to hear my life story ; so she can get a bigger tip (I see too many of them at various chain restaurants, so am glad that there aren't many here) I guess this one is a lose lose situation (fake smiles and laughs to get bigger tips, or just act ordinary and real) I prefer the latter

But yes, I love this place, and definitely have...
