I am a very long time customer of the Home restaurant chain. Frequent the Hope restaurant as many times as possible passing thru. Knowing that the food is always good with thier awesome dessert counter. A piece always goes home. Today I stopped at The Home restaurant in Maple Ridge. Knowing that it takes very good cooking skills to offer up my favorite " Liver and onions". The "Hope " Home restaurant never fails to please. To the point I asked the hostess if thier liver and onions were also a favorite here. She replied yes and that all the restaurant's are consistent.
My partner ordered the clam chowder. She did not complain , however stated she has enjoyed better. I'm a very good cook in that department, however I did not taste it. She asked for two pieces of garlic bread which were sold extra at 3.50$ each. They came three quarters into tge meal looking like they were on the counter from the night before. Again she didn't complain. Just voiced her observation. The liver and onions presentation appeared well. Tasted okay with fresh fries as ordered. However. Due to the temperature differences and the way the coating came off the liver, I suspected it was not fresh and probably microwaved. Tge vegetables looked like they had been scraped off the counter cold. With shriveled pieces mixed in with some laying next to a heat source, dry like a bamboo stick. I mentioned to the hostess politely that although it probably wouldn't kill me. Perhaps its not a good idea to serve food like this to your customers. Eating out is always an adventure. And today yiu just never know what yiur going to get. Never be shy to tell yiur hostess what you think. Its a better compliment than losing 100's of customers. And not knowing why. Thanks. Perhaps we'll give them another...
Read moreI hate leaving bad reviews for restaurants but this was our last visit.
The parking was full and we parked at the lot next door which was very empty on a weekday midday. Wanted to check out another store in the area anyways and wash the car, figured we were using the lot as intended.
Hungry, so first stop was the Home Restaurant. We were approached by the Australian parking hall monitor who works at Diamond Stereo. Explaining we wanted to eat and then shop and use the car wash, he got angry about the parking (again, lot EMPTY in the general area).
He then follows us into the restaurant berating us. Staff at the restaurant looked confused and bewildered, as were we. Not sure how an elderly employee of another business feels entitled enough to follow customers into another business. It was alarming, aggressive and I felt so uncomfortable that we decided to not come back to the area in general. It’s hard to support local when unhinged individuals take it upon themselves to act like spoilt 4 year olds.
Home restaurant, consider cameras, or have someone have a chat with this guy. Use single syllables since he is in his own reality and won’t understand basic customer care. I would also suggest RCMP be notified before he escalates and you lose more customers or this becomes more well...
Read moreI really really like this place. I enjoy the food alot, and the atmosphere is incredible (at least I like it) It really has a good ambiance and the food is great......
The pies though? I don't think they are as great as they were before. If you do come in after 7:00 (dine in only) you can get a slice for $4.99 (Which would be ok) I personally wouldn't pay more than that, but my friend reported to me, that she really likes the pie (so maybe it's just me) but I do recommend at least coming in after 7:00 to try it for the discount price and if you think it warrants more than $4.99......then come by anytime for pie
The service? the waitresses do a good job for sure. I am glad that some of the waitresses are not overly friendly, and it's like "Hi, can I take your order? Ok, here is your order......let me know when you need your cheque" --- Last thing I need is some smiley waitress, pretending that she cares to hear my life story ; so she can get a bigger tip (I see too many of them at various chain restaurants, so am glad that there aren't many here) I guess this one is a lose lose situation (fake smiles and laughs to get bigger tips, or just act ordinary and real) I prefer the latter
But yes, I love this place, and definitely have...
