We have been here before and as for the picture included here We enjoyed the patio on a warm evening... And everything was good although the food was not spectacular , so we decided to invite our friends to meet us there for Dinner on Thursday Nov. 2nd. and had a horrible and embarrassing experience with the so-called manager. Or at least he called himself that .... there was a female singer and the music was so loud when she sang that we could not talk to each other at all, not even for 5 seconds, so we asked the waitress if she could. Please ask the singer to turn the volume down a little bit. The waitress agreed that it was very loud. And she would ask her. However, when the volume was not turned down, I simply assumed that the waitress had not had the chance to ask her.... So I when up to the singer myself in between songs and politely asked her if there was any chance that she could turn the volume down a little bit as we were now sitting as far as we could from the stage after trying 2 other tables and we still were unable to have a conversation with our friends. She did say that she had it as low as he could go to be able to be heard etcetera so I simply went back to my table and to our surprise about 5 minutes later, and before we even had a chance to order dinner, a little man came to our table with his hands-on his hips asking us what the problem was and that he had been told that we had a problem with the music, we told him that the problem was not the music itself, It was simply that it was very loud. And so we had simply asked the singer to turn it down a little, so he replied very rudely.... who do you think you are? You are not gonna tell me how to run "my room".!!! and told us that we had upset the singer ... so we simply told him that if he would prefer, we could simply leave if the music was not going to be turned down at all, and he told us that... "Yeah, if you wanna leave, that's okay with me." And so we left ... terrible experience. Incredibly poor management and people skills and We also canceled a future reservation that we had the following week with other friends. And yeah, luckily enough, we went to the Black Sheep. Which is a beautiful place in Maple Ridge and had a fantastic dinner with our friends in a beautiful atmosphere. With exquisite service! So, needless to say that we'll never be back to such a dive as the Kingfishers seems to be . It is unfortunate , as we had previously liked it. But this manager has ruined the experience for us and this is pretty much descriptive of what you could expect when...
Read moreMy husband and I were at Kingfisher on Valentines Day. The atmosphere is always nice there.but the waitress was all over the map. It wasn’t busy. We were there without reservations at 6:30 and didn’t have to wait for a table. There was a set menu that night with a few Ala carte options I asked the waitress if either of the desserts could be substituted from the set menu as I had dietary restrictions with both ( one had chocolate and the other had hazelnuts). I also asked if the wine pairing menu could swap the red for either white or rose as I can’t have red wine either. After speaking with the kitchen she came back and said no to both questions I asked for a glass of house white and asked what it was. She said she had to go check in the kitchen When she returned she said Chaberton. I asked what blend? She said she had to check with the kitchen She came back and said Merlot, cab sav, and I stopped her there saying those were reds…remember I can’t have red wine. She said, it’s so hard memorizing the new menu for tonight and all and it’s so busy ( there were empty tables). She came back with the right information and I ordered it. We ordered Ala carte and had the half chicken and the pork tenderloin. Both tasty, but my husband ended up with a inch long sliver in his mouth from one of the skewers in the tenderloin When the waitress asked how the meal was, we showed her, and she said she’d show the kitchen, when she came back, she said yeah, it’s just a piece off the skewer, and while walking away said you can order anything else and I’ll get it to you for free We finished our meal, she came back and asked if we wanted dessert. I reminded her that I couldn’t have either. I asked if there was any substitute available she went to the kitchen, came back and said I could have the profiteroles to which I reminded her that I can’t have hazelnuts…she said well they can just leave them off. For nut allergies this is a concern for cross contamination I was an unfortunate event that she didn’t ask anyone else ( chef or manager) to come speak with us, neither was anything...
Read moreWe came out for our 5 year anniversary on March 22nd and we sat at the table that was served by Teresa. Not going to lie we were quite unimpressed by her.. she looked like she either hated being there or was beyond tired. She was not friendly at all, didnt smile to us - nothing. When i was asking her questions about the menu she was answering as if im dumb. And maybe my questions are dumb, but why cant i clarify your meal or drink??! At one point she completely disappeared and a table beside us was served by Mira. I think shes a newer girl? Honestly, we were so jealous of her service for the people beside us. She was so happy, smiling, checking up on them, answering questions, suggesting drinks or meals. It was so nice and we honestly wish we were served by her.. we wanted to be asked to be changed to her section of tables but she ended up coming up to us (without us asking) to see if we were okay and if we needed anything! That was so kind of her!! But then it honestly looked like she was in trouble by Teresa and the bigger male manager for coming up to us :/ they both were talking to her by the bar and pointing at our table and looking at our table. That was so sad. If not Mira, we would of 100% changed tables or left the restaurant. She is an asset to your company and even IF you have to make any comments to her about the table - do it elsewhere, not in front of the customers. That was beyond unprofessional. We honestly felt like crap and never wanted to leave faster.
The food was delicious, the dessert on the house for our anniversary was delicious but im sorry the way we were served by our server was awful. And on top of that, getting a bit of a fresh air by an amazing server - who yes wasnt ours- but she was the reason we stayed and seeing her get in trouble was just sad. I hope you all keep Mira. She was incredible. Her bubbly personality, her smile and friendliness goes a long way!
My husband lost his job 2 days prior to us coming there and the way Mira interacted with us was the happiest moment since...
