The girl at the bar was kind to let me and my husband eat even if it was almost 7 pm and apparently they close at 7 to serve food, which I found strange being in a touristic town. We ordered the only thing we could eat from the menu since we are vegetarians, veggie fettuccine and the food was great. I found strange that we ordered 2 teas and they brought a big pot with 2 tea bags inside, I usually let the bag steep few seconds as I like it light while in the pot was dark and strong and the tea tasted like grass, and in town apparently everyone has the same tea. The second day, since everyone was closed or didn't have a vegetarian choice,(3 restaurant, one closed at 2 pm, the other one is chinese) we came back here, wanted to order the same pasta of the night but menu was different for lunch and we ordered fish and chips and 2 teas again. The girl was nice, the food didn't impress me much with the tons of fries and the white acetic vinegar as a dressing for the coleslaw. I checked the glasses and they were dirty, I cleaned them with a paper towel. I think this place would need more discipline in cleaning, Including the washroom. It is sad to see that people who travel so far and spend so much money for the ferry and up eating in places like this with no knowledge about food or restaurant business and I can say this having had my own restaurant cafe ' and bakery for years. I had no other choice than come here, there are very little options for vegetarians...
Read moreWe were recommended this restaurant by a couple of people and we are glad we followed their advice. We missed the restaurant twice driving by (our fault, not for lack of signage), but eventually found it. We decided to eat in the dining room, which wasn't as loud as the pub side. Service was very friendly and seemed to be done by the chef himself as the waitress was busy serving other tables. I personally went with the 'chef recommended' Cajun halibut steak dinner. The portion size was great and plenty for myself. The halibut was seasoned perfectly and very tasty. My only complaint is the halibut was accompanied by plain white rice and I would have liked to have seen it 'jazzed up' with something. One of my dining companions had the halibut as well (without the Cajun seasoning) and was happy with it as well. My other companion had the special which was half a chicken, half a rack of ribs, Caesar salad, and potatoes. The portion size was huge and a great value at the $16.95 price charged. The food was raved about as well. All in all, we were happy with the restaurant and would definitely recommend...
Read moreI stopped by Daddy Cool’s over the weekend while in Masset, and honestly, it’s a pretty cool spot. There are two vibes going on — the pub side is livelier, great for catching a game or grabbing a beer, and then there’s the dining room, which is quieter if you just want to enjoy your meal without distractions. I had the Mile Zero burger, and it was seriously good — big, flavorful, and loaded with toppings. The seafood dishes were also a win, especially the fish and chips made with local fish, which made all the difference. For breakfast, I tried the eggs benedict, and it was generous and tasty. The service was friendly, though sometimes a bit slow, but overall the staff really seemed to care about making sure you have a good time. It’s not fancy by any means, but for a laid-back atmosphere, solid food, and good value, it’s a great choice. Definitely recommend if you’re passing...
