Hello guys this is my honest and truthful review of Momβs Restaurant. Please know that this review is my personal opinion and isnβt to bash or disrespect in anyway shape or form Momβs.
Momβs is a restaurant staple in Midland! It has been around for ever! Amazing owners, family run business that cares about community. On that weekends this is the place to go.
My wife and I went this July long weekend on the Monday. It was a normal busy day but something was off something felt differently. Seemed like the kitchen help wasnβt really on the ball or maybe things have changed.
We sat down order chicken clubhouse $17.00 with fries and Momβs grilled salisbury steak $23.00 thinking like always we couldnβt go wrong and weβre excited to eat.
45 minutes later our food came out! My wifeβs fries were completely cold and my plate looked like it was for a 10 year old. My wife asked that she have new fries because they were not fresh like they had been left under the heat lamp for a while so the server brought another plate within seconds. Well they must have come from the same heat lamp. She again asked can I actually get some hot fries please. He sandwich was average at best.
Finally, the hot fresh fries were here and we could start eating. My plate on the other hand had a small ice cream scoop of frozen veg and mashed potatoes with a little gravy on it. The salisbury. Steak was homemade but over cooked and burnt. Lucky the little gravy they put on it made it edible.
Momβs is a great restaurant that used to give great portions now it seems itβs about the smaller you can give the better.
Momβs makes good food but cheap on delivery. Our bill was $68.00 for something that really was worth $40.00 with tip.
I feel Momβs is running off old reputation of quality food, but most of all quantity food for a good price. Is it home quality food? Not at that price. There are other restaurants that will fill your plate in Midland instead of making you walk away hungry! Disappointed but maybe the owners have lost that drive to put out plates that they would be proud of.
Again, great restaurant but price point is way beyond quality and quantity of food. Might be time to look elsewhere for breakfast or lunch options because Momβs isnβt at the top of the step anymore, but three...
Β Β Β Read moreStopped in for lunch with my wife after a hot and humid day out at the Sainte Marie historical site. The staff were a hit - made the experience a 5-star event, frankly. Our waitress shared her love (craving?) of the salad dressing, her 3-week long wait to try the prime rib sandwich (always sold out by the time she gets an opportunity) and was positive, interactive, and in-and-out without ever being intrusive. A bit like a ray of sunshine peeking through the trees on a picnic - always welcome and never as staggering as a full-sun experience. I had the club, my usual in a new place, along with a split pea soup, and my wife had the prime rib (hopefully not the last so that our server can get one finally) and the salad with the highly anticipated dressing. The club had beautifully crisp bacon, tender chicken and properly toasted bread. I hate bread that gets waved at a toaster then wet down with ingredientsβ¦this held its own and held together the sandwich with perfect clarity. The soup was amazing - the ham was cooked just right and with slightly uneven dicing made for wonderful texture compared to a machine-blended mess. Sometimes split pea can be a bit salty but this had just the right balance. The salad was good - middle of the road lettuce, toppingsβ¦nothing special - but shout out to the vinaigrette dressing. A wonderful blend of flavours, not too oily and with just the right touch of sweet-acid balance. I should have asked for the recipe! The prime rib was good as well. A bit overdone for my wifeβs taste - if it doesnβt βmooβ it isnβt right - but my bite was right to my liking. Beautiful fresh baguette, classic dip. A bit outside the town centre and away from the water, so it might not be on the radar for non-locals, but it is not that far and is worth a drop-in if you are at Sainte Marie, the Martyrβs Shrine, or Wye Marsh, or just want to get out of busy...
Β Β Β Read moreI've been to Mom's restaurant twice now, and I only have positive things to say. Not only is the place cleaned meticulously β a sight which I witnessed as my party were the last people there one evening β but it's also a beautiful, warm and comforting atmosphere, aided by 20+ years of service and delightful staff.
On our evening visit we were served by Elsa, and on our brunch visit we were served by James. Both of them were very attentive, kind and watch out for their tables diligently. As well, James gave me a chuckle when he practically pulled tea bags out of thin air for my morning cup. All in all, absolutely superb staff who really make you feel welcome and appreciated.
For dinner, I had their "AAA" Prime Rib. In fact, three out of four at my table had this dish, and all of them were done to perfection. They were perfectly cooked to our requests and preferences, while still being juicy, tender, and magnificently flavourful. Paired with their Yorkshire Pudding which is very light and fluffy, their au jus, mashed potatoes and vegetables, it made for a delicious experience.
As for breakfast, I had their Greek Omelette. The omelette was a good blend of vegetables and had a nice sprinkling of feta which wasn't overly salty β a quality which I appreciate β but the most wonderfully surprising thing was how good their home fries are! I've gone to many restaurants and had many potatoes, but Mom's has delectably seasoned fries that pair perfectly with their milder omelette. The meal balances quite nicely.
Definitely a gem, I would absolutely go there again and again. Their restaurant's longevity is a testament to how many agree with me on...
