Minto Shawarma — Restaurant in Minto

Ended up temporarily snowed in to this small town of Palmerston for a few hours waiting for snow squalls to subside. Seemingly a very friendly town, as was evident from my experiences had in several stores visited while killing time. Ended up eating at Minto Shawarma and I am very happy that I did. I love shawarma, and I am fussy. Okay, I am pretty demanding actually. So... Ahmed does have his own personal touch on his homemade sauces (which he is proud of). As mentioned in other reviews he takes a bar b q style sauce approach and at first I was like "what's this?" and the unexpected flavour did first hit me as different, but a bite or two in I realized this is really delicious! Funny how something unexpected or different can garner less positive reviews. I assure you, in fact, this variation of sauce warrants your culinary investigation into this Westernized variant of a middle east staple. The salad ingredients were fresh and the generous portion of meat and sauces was satisfying. The meat (I had a mix of both beef and chicken) and they were fresh and delicious as well. I ate every last morsel of my left overs once I got safely home.

We ordered a large pizza and he said 25 minutes. We agreed on that time and he said he’d give us a good deal since we were going to wait. Then as I’m walking out to wait in my car and he says oh you said large but I only charged you for a medium. I was confused because he said he’s giving me a deal so I just shrugged it off. After 30 minutes, I went back in to pick up the pizza and he said 3-5 more minutes. I reminded him he said 25 when I ordered. Then he started telling me he only got to the restaurant today at 12:10 and it takes time... again I’m not sure why this mattered to me. He initially told me 25 minutes so I just waited. After an additional 10 minutes instead of the 3 minutes, I stepped outside. Another few minutes passed and I go back in to get the pizza, I’m anticipating a large... nope, after I ordered a large, he offered a deal without my asking, and then charging me for a medium.., I got a medium! At this point, my three kids, friend, and I were starving. My 8 year old even said it’s not even good pizza but I’m starving. So we all had a piece and fought over the last 3 pieces. To top it off, both people working there weren’t even wearing masks....

I ordered the chicken shawarma plate with rice. I asked for extra spicy, but the sauce is not even close to shawarma sauce. It's like BBQ sauce.

The extra sauce had dripped over the side of the container, and gotten on his hands when he passed me the dish. After I got the container in my hands, he proceeded to lick his hand and his fingers.... than people came in behind me and he just starting making food again. 🤢

To top it all off, he charges more than his menu price. And he knows it 🤔...
