What a gift to have found this restaurant. We were so pleasantly surprised by the service, the ambiance, but most importantly, the food! The menu may seem a bit limited to those that expect a buffet selection, but the food freshness and quality is amazing. I have been fortunate enough to eat at some spectacular restaurants around the world and I can tell you that Cabin 1865 is a great restaurant for a great meal. The grilled octopus was one of the best i have eaten anywhere (i am of Portuguese decent and I know octopus). The scallops fresh and seared perfectly. The bruschetta was UBER fresh and light. The in-house proscuitto fresh and young (i prefer mine a bit more salty) but my table guests loved it. The linguine di mare will have you looking for the pasta as its loaded with seafood. The sauce is divine. The ricotta gnocchi were truly pillows from heaven (I had mine minus the peas). The simple spaghettini was spectacular, but my standout was the cavatelli -- what a flavour explosion!! The others at my table kept eating from my plate! The combination of flavours was outstanding and memorable. Even the mushroom risotto was flavourfull and light -- not what you would expect from a risotto. I'm not a huge dessert guy, but the tiramisu is unlike any other! And the wild blueberry cheesecake was damn good. I was so pleasantly surprised by the food prep, quality and freshness that we ate here 2 nights in a row. And the 2nd evening did not disappoint either.
A special shout out to Ryan - the manager -- who was informed, professional, and fun. He made the two evenings unforgettable. I can't stop talking to my friends about this place and how welcoming Ryan was - it was like coming home. Thank you and i can't wait to go back! Thank goodness its only an...
Read moreWe are here with 2 friends for dinner and stayed overnight. The food was fantastic, however the service was the worst I've ever experienced. We were seated by an energetic, friendly manager, and then as we started eating, he sat down at a table behind us to eat and drink with a group, and that's when our service took a turn. Our server then neglected her tables except for her managers table. We waited one hour before getting our bills, had no water, had to get up and find a different server to ask for bills, finally she brings one bill (we would have asked to split them if she gave us any attention). She tells us we have to tell her everything we ordered for her to do that. So she writes it down. Comes back, all the bills are jumbled up and have items on it we didn't even order. The kicker is she charged our pregnant friend for the cocktail lol. She tried to argue that we are wrong and that's what we ordered.....we give up and pay so we can get out of there (we've been here 3 hours at this point). Finally a manager asks us how it was as we are LEAVING (saw her the entire night, never walked around to any tables to check in on them.) after spending 300$+ on dinner, we will...

We were accommodated on short notice. We were served by a server named Terry (I hope I got the name correct, he was wonderful). Please convert thanks to him.
The chef was gracious and offered us tuna croquette appetizer which was absolutely no delicious. We've also given for focaccia bread with butter and cauliflower spread.
MAIN COURSE:
The Riesling local wine was delicious and paired well with both the pastas.
