A nice looking place. Convienant to eat at when staying in the hotel for sure as there is zero eating anywhere nearby or for walking distance.
I really, really want to rave about places, I really do! But more and more it seems I am disappointed and my high expectations wilt away like warm lettuce.
I am beginning to feel like Monsieur Anton Ego.
So this is where it starts. I sit down for the Monday buffet night - I read the only review here on yelp and thought maybe it was going to be nice.
After looking at what they have to offer, I decided against it. Nothing looked interesting at all and definately not worth it for 17.50 plus tip!
Please don't missunderstand me, It may be really what knocks your socks off, but I have just been spoiled by way better buffets with fresh roast beef and a chef to cut it for you with far more interesting items than this for that much money in Vancouver.
I luck out with a good and very friendly and attentive waiter.
I have a conversation about the wine and decide not to bother, I get turned off by hotel restaurant prices of liqueur that are majorly inflated. That's just me.
Here's my thinking; In Vancouver a "decent" House Red in a half ass restaurant will set you back about 7.00 - 9.00 The same bottle of wine in a government liqueur store in Vancouver is about 14.00 - 19.00.
The wine here is about 9.00 a glass and the bottle in the liqueur store is less than 10.00 Does that make sense to you???
So I order the steak sirloin sandwich with a cesar salad and it comes right away. First off, it comes not as you would expect a steak sandwhich, at least not how I am used to it everywhere else I've been in Canada.
First of all it comes with fried onions but the menu doesn't mention that. So I scraped them off, the waiter kindly offered to take it back and fix it, but I have a thing about kindly declining and just fixing it myself.
The sandwich is a real sandwich, it comes also with mushrooms and a top and bottom bun. In my world it comes on a garlic bun but only the bottom.
The meat was cooked excellent and overall tasted very nice. The cesar salad was a bit lite on parmessan and seemed a bit wilty it was unremarkable but acceptable. Might have been a bit better with some fresh ground pepper, but that never happened.
I am staying here for the next 12 days so I assume I will likely come back again.
Based on the food and pricing I give it a 2-3 stars the waiter brought...
Read moreWow. Normally one would not think of a restaurant being in chain hotel be great, but I can honestly say what a great food experience. For Lunch, had a house made fresh, that's right, fresh hamburger. This burger holds it's own like at a specialized burger joint. My wife had a Caesar Salad fresh, crunchy, great size. My children had chicken fingers with fruit. The fruit was cut just for kids and tasted like they were just picked.
Dinner: Fine Dining in a Holiday Inn .... yes! I had the Fillet Mignon Madagascar with fresh roasted (blanched and roasted carrot) with a half roasted potato. This cut was simply amazing cooked to perfection. I was stunned, I have been to amazing steak restaurants and this has beat them hands down. My wife had the house made chicken parmigiana, which was baked not fried and it was delicious. Kids had grilled cheese which real cheddar was used, unprocessed and fresh.
Finally, dessert. Tiramisu cheesecake my wife fell in love with. I hate, let me repeat, HATE cheesecake but this was outstanding.
Thank you for a great time. I will not mention names as this is public, but the manager and older gentleman made the night memorable. I will for sure mention in the survey if I get one. Great customer service. I overwhelmingly reccomend this place. What a...
Read moreRestaurant was under renovations so they had a dining room set up just outside of the restaurant and beside the pool. Was a little worried about what we were going to get but was extremely happy with the food. We started off with Montreal smoked meat poutine and French onion soup. The mains we ordered were the seafood pasta, fish and chips, chicken linguini and chicken parmigiana. All excellent choices. Very delicious and would recommend to anyone staying at the Radisson...
