If "Chef Boyardee" makes a French Onion soup, I am pretty sure I had it here. One of the poorest renditions of the French Onion soup I have ever tasted. Just like the hotel, this restaurant/bar was staffed with only one person on each of the three nights I was there. Trust me, not being from the area I did not want to eat here more than I had to, but sometimes it was the only go-to with my schedule and the fact that I was staying in the hotel.
The cheeseburger was surprisingly good and though I usually don't eat French Fries, I did try a few and they were pretty good as well. I almost felt sorry for the poor guy having to manage all of the tables and the bar at same time. As sorry as I felt for those who had to wait forever for a refill, a new beverage or the mustard that I am still waiting for as I type this back home.
I also noticed when I got home that I was severely overcharged on one of my bills due to the server/bartender/busboy/host (all same guy) not keeping track of who ordered what. At the end of the dinner, two of us got stuck with the completely wrong bills and we just paid it to get out since we had been there long enough. I'll give it a 3 for atmosphere because it looked like it could be a cool place. If only it was clean and did not have flies buzzing around your head the whole time you are eating.
Also of interest, a guy ordered a mojito, which it clearly was not just by looking at it, and left it on the table next to us after taking one sip of it. That mojito sat there the whole night, even as multiple other guests came and dined at the table and left. The full fake mojito just sat there until closing. It was also kind of gross to have the server/bartender/busboy/host take the menu from one customer's hands (mine) and hand it directly to another customer as he sat at the table next to me without wiping it down. Wasn't Canada locked down until a couple of weeks ago due to COVID and yet you can't wipe down a menu before handing it to someone else.
Like the NOVODUMP hotel, I will never have to see this place again, so you have been warned. Oh, an make sure you double check your bill before you leave and you find out you paid for people that weren't dining with...
Read moreAfter a long day of driving very bad experience at a different hotel, we opted to pick the Novotel by the airport. It looked clean had good reviews and affordable rates. I was there with a friend of mine and we did not want to venture too far out to go to a bar as we did not know the area well enough and the roads were slippery. Downstairs was a bar/bistro called Rivoli's.
Being tired after a full day of travelling we just wanted a nice place to sit down and grab a pitcher of beer. When we entered there was one other couple sitting down, it was very quiet at the moment.
The ambiance in the restaurant was fantastic. The lights were dim, but just enough without it being so dark and give it a nice feel. The music was also fantastic for that late hour. Skipping to the even better part, the service. The server that night, her name was Rosie. She acknowledged us right away and was. Being that we were only there for a pitcher of beer we wanted to make sure we were getting a beer. We asked for a couple of samples and she was more than happy to let us try some before selecting one. In restaurants I have been to in the past the service sometimes ends there, unless you pitcher needs to be refilled or you ask for the bill.
With Rosie that was not the case. I have to say hands down, it was one of the best experiences Iv'e had in a very very long time! She has a very bubbly personality, very attentive and very engaging when is comes to providing a wonderful guest experience. When I go to a restaurant or bar of any kind that's the kind of service I truly respect and want to see. I would go back there any day in a heartbeat. 10/5 recommend if I could. Thank you...
Read moreLovely restaurant with a pleasant atmosphere! But that's not all bad...
I went there twice since I had dinner (with a friend) and lunch (alone) there.
The waitress we had in the evening for our dinner was very nice. However, we were about 15-20 customers in the restaurant, and she was alone. As a result, the service was extremely long. She was busy serving customers AND being a bartender!
The waitress I had at lunch was very nice too! The atmosphere was very calm, and it was still good. The service was fast since we were not many customers.
For the food, it was not great, especially compared to the price. It is reheated frozen food, both in the evening and in the morning. No possibility of modifying an ingredient of a menu choice! For example, I couldn't ask for no spiciness in my pasta sauce because the sauce was already made (the waitress told us when we ordered).
The same thing for lunch, I wanted a scrambled egg sandwich, but it was not possible since it is an already made sandwich (the waitress told me that when I ordered)…
The restaurant is still costly for what it offers.
I don't think I'll go back, and neither...
