Went there with a friend for lunch last week because I was craving a burger and had heard good things about this place. It was a bit busy and as we pulled up, we noticed that there was a bit of a line. We were told about a 20 minute wait, so we decided to go next door to Moo Town and grab some jumbo freezies since it was so hot outside. By the time we got them and walked back, they were able to seat us. We sat down and ate our entire freezies, which were giant, before we were even acknowledged by any of the servers. Granted, there were only two of them and the left side dining room was almost full, so I will cut them some slack, but I've served before and I would always let guest know that someone will be right with them. That takes 3 seconds. We were sitting for a full 10 minutes before we got menus. My friend order the Lone Ranger burger and I ordered a bacon cheeseburger. The burger was okay. The burger didn't fill out the bun, probably because it either wasn't dimpled or the cook didn't use a burger press. Super annoying, because the bun was really good and I liked the topping but they were sliding off the burger because it was so domed. The fries were good, too. My friend didn't like her burger, she said pepper jelly tasted really off. I wouldn't drive up to Morell just for Holy Cow, but if I'm up there, I'll...
Read moreI must disclose that my wife knows the owner Tanya personally (whom I have also met). Tanya is an absolute peach and the evening I was at the Cow she ran herself ragged keeping her customers happy. It is rare these days to see a restaurant owner right down in the weeds outworking their staff. This should tell you all you need to know about the Holy Cow.
During my weekend in Morell I noticed that the Holy Cow was very active in the local community, sponsoring free skates at the Morell Arena, helping out the Lions Club with chase the Ace, and being thanked in the local church newsletter. Hopefully the Holy Cow can make a go of it in Morell. Morell has a history of being tough on local restaurants.
The Holy Cow serves up pretty tasty meals for a decent price. The Cow does really good wings, nachos and of course burgers. I have heard that the locals sometimes complain about the fries ... but hey .. it's Morell ... the locals would find something to complain about if you gave them free money.
The Cow serves cold beer including a few local craft offerings from the Island. They have a full bar and the left half of the Cow is more of a Pub on evenings/weekends. The Cow sometimes keeps odd hours so it's always best to call ahead.
What do you call a cow with no legs? Ground Beef. Now go treat yourself to a...
Read moreIn town visiting from Toronto. Went 2 nights for dinner in a row while here and had nothing but good food and good service. First night I ordered the Mr. Irresti-bull 2018 burger with a cup of seafood chowder - easily the best burger I've had. Burger was fresh and tasted amazing! The sauce, the bun and everything with it was superb - highly recommended. Second night I loved the seafood chowder so much I ordered a bowl of it and we went on wing night so I had a pound of wings as well! Again, fantastic. The seafood chowder is phenomenal, hearty and filled with good PEI potatoes, carrots and lots of clams shrimp and all things seafood goodness! Highly recommend if you're in the area. My girlfriend had the scallop dinner and loved it as well. The scallops were done perfectly and tasted just like home for her since she lived here before moving to Ontario.
All in all, great food great service and a great time! Food is all made fresh to order so it does take a bit of time to come. Not saying it takes forever but it's very reasonable for the quality and freshness of food you're being served.
Go get fast food if you don't want to wait and want to give up a little on quality. Otherwise, a must stop spot! Best part of my trip here to the...
