First off, let's start with the service. From the time we were seated to when we were greeted by a waiter, it was approximately 10 mins. When the server arrived I inquired on the contents of one of the mixed drinks. He said he would inquire on the contents. To my surprise, he brought the drink for me rather than clarifying the contents before the order was placed. For dinner we ordered the corn bread to start, and steak frites and chicken sandwich for main. The cornbread was served to us without cutlery or plates. It was so crumbly, we made a mess all over the table. Would have been great to have some plates. Would not recommend the cornbread. With respect to the mains, steak was good but was disappointed when it didn't come with shoe string fries which is pretty common for a steak frites. Sandwich was ok, the chicken was more like a shnitzel than a fried chicken. Overall, experience was ok but would not eat here again unless you aren't able to...

We ordered the pate to start and it came out looking like cat food. It smelt like tuna and tasted a little odd. It came out looking like a chunk spam.
The chicken burger, the menu described it coming out with a brioche bun. My boyfriend described it looking like a “bun from walmart.” I tried a bite and concluded that kfc could probably make a better burger.
The old fashioned was okay.
I ordered the greens and grains salad, and it was alright at best. I think I could have made a better salad. The pickles were chunky , and was an interesting shape and not as crunchy as expected.
Our server Maheep was extremely pleaseant however, and went above and...
Read moreWe thoroughly enjoy staying at JPL. The facilities and service are excellent. The grounds often have wildlife casually roaming which I particularly love. I find the food scene in Jasper to be somewhat lacking compared to its counterpart further south and that holds true for the restaurants at JPL. While some are great, others leave wanting. I'd avoid the Great Hall for dinner but definitely recommend it for breakfast/brunch. Orso Trattoria, the last time we visited, only offered a set menu which did not live up to its price point. I've since noticed it's been renamed to the Orso Den and offers an a la carte menu which I much prefer - may be worth checking out. We also had the Sunday Brunch at Orso which no longer seems available. We quite enjoyed it...
