Today, I had a very disappointing experience when I went to get ice cream for my son, as I usually do. From the moment I arrived, it was clear that I was not a priority for the employee working that day. Instead of taking my order, she seemed more interested in watching a video that another customer was showing her.
I didn’t even receive a simple greeting, which is usually standard when I visit this establishment. The employee chose to have a long conversation with this customer, even stopping her work to continue talking, without ever attending to me or my order.
Faced with this situation, I decided to leave and purchase a cone elsewhere, at Canex. Although the employee saw me leave, it didn’t prompt any reaction from her. It seems that talking to someone is more important to her than serving a child waiting for their ice cream.
I am extremely disappointed by this experience, and I am not sure if I will return to this establishment in the future. It might be better to go directly to Canex, where customer service is taken seriously.
Update: I decided to give you another chance because the sun was out and my son wanted some ice cream. The service on April 8th and 9th was really good. But today, April 10th at 4:30 PM… I just don’t get it. It felt like you didn’t even want to make a sale.
One customer in front of me got a coffee and a cone. Five minutes later, I’m still waiting. My son asks for his ice cream, and the server just keeps talking and talking. She finishes the coffee like we’re at a Starbucks inside Sobeys in Brandon. She rings him up, keeps chatting, and I’m just standing there. She looks at me, but it’s like she doesn’t want to ask what I want—just because it’s ice cream for a kid?
Guess what? That conversation was clearly more important than making money for the business. Sorry, I gave you a last chance… but I won’t be coming back. Very...
Read moreRevised Review: Since making the below review, the shop has changed owners and I have returned to sample the coffee again. Much improved! Instead of sad bean water, it's flavourful and an appealing roast. In talking with staff it's a happy middle ground between the previous quality and where the ideal balance should be. I think most people are so accustomed to a weak brew that they were taken unawares when presented with a proper cup. Not quite what you would find in an Italian cafe, but much closer to a balance of coffee and culture for our community. Why did I change from two to five star? Still great atmosphere and staff. The new owner is a gem and a delight, plus her ideas and plans for the space she has acquired is inspiring. I look forward to seeing what happens next. (And hi to Grandmother supervising from her perch!)
Original Review: Lovely atmosphere, cozy and great energy. Their hot chocolate is lovely but their coffee is not the greatest. My drink was more water than anything and the quality of the coffee was not a standard I care to repeat. Unfortunately, I couldn't get more than a couple of sips in before I had the barista pour it out. I would go back, just not for...
Read moreThe food is good, sometimes. I love their Caesar wrap when it's made well, which unfortunately sometimes it isn't. The biggest issue I have is that over the multiple times I've ordered coffee here, none were truly enjoyable. It just feels unfortunate when a military ration pack's instant nescafe coffee tastes better than a full-fledged cafe's. When I order lattes, sometimes they're good, but usually they're not made well. This could be a staff issue, but I feel like a cafe—a place designed to serve delicious coffee or espresso beverages—should at the very least beat out Tim Hortons in terms of taste, quality and consistency. If possible, please overhaul the current system, as I know more people who dislike the coffee than people...
