I've spent hundreds of dollars here during my 4 month tasking in Gagetown. I do not have a car with me so Griffin's had been convenient. The advertised free WiFi is a single 5Mbps connection shared accross the entire pub over a lone Linksys EA2500. Average speeds are 100Kbps up and down with a mean latency of 600ms. Essentially unusable for anything other than checking email. I had always brought my own internet connection with me so this didn't affect me.
On the evening of 25 March, 2017, I walked to Griffin's pub for Maritime Saturdays. The walk is typically 28 minutes but as I hadn't eaten yet that day, it was worth the trip. I arrived and took a seat. I arrived at 19:10 and the girl tending the bar told me that a show was starting at 20:00 so if I was there to eat I would have to do so before then. I found a table and sat down. When I asked for a menu, they told me that a show was going on so I couldn't eat there without buying a $15 ticket. I explained to the waitress that I was only there to eat before the show started. She replied only by asking if I wanted to speak to the owner. I obliged. The owner approach my table and, before I could speak, began berating me as if I was trying to steal his silverware. I explained to him that there was nothing posted on the website's event page and that it takes me half an hour to walk there. The owner indicated that he didn't care and "that's how it is". I left hungry and with no intention of returning.
The majority of the staff here had always been polite. However, after my experience meeting the owner, I will not be offering him my patronage, or...
Read moreBefore reading this review, I implore you to look at the attached photo. This is me, enjoying a coffee that I purchased 5 minutes before being kicked out of Griffins Pub & Eatery.
As you can see, the bar is empty save for 3 customers, two of which (seen on the left) I told to go there for the free wifi. You'd think with this sort of volume, the owner would want to build a reputation for good customer service in order to draw more people. Instead, he asked one of his waitresses to request that I "finish my coffee as quickly as possible" and leave. He did not even have the dignity or ownership to ask me himself.
The bottom line is, this owner only cares about HIS bottom line. This is especially ironic and sad considering his pub is located on a military base. Normally I tip in excess of the value of my coffee; I did not after being kicked out. Kicking a paying customer out of a virtually empty pub is counter-intuitive with regards to drawing more customers. It also builds a bad reputation, which is not good in any industry. I imagine Griffins Pub & Eatery will continue to remain as empty as you see it in this image well into the future (on this point, I would gladly excuse myself if I felt like I was keeping a table from a hungry...
Read moreMy hubz and I came here two days ago and we tried to order a take out pizza in person, nobody wanted to take our order literally 4 waiters kept telling us to wait, when it was never busy at all. We just felt like they didn't want to serve us at all and they just wanted to focus on people who are dining in instead of people ordering takeout. So to me this was absolutely rude, ignorant and unacceptable.
When we finally got our pizza unfortunately it was the worst pizza in Oromocto, too doughy not sure if they were attempting to do a dish type of pizza or just an epic fail. There was absolutely no flavor to it super bland. The donaire meat that was on it was pretty bad it was nothing like any other regular donaire pizza I have had all over New Brunswick, the taste was awful.
I do not recommend this place at all for anyone unless you are here for the booze then you are good but as far as any pizza goes don't bother, you are better off eating at Pizza Delight or Dominos the best two.
Terrible service.
Due to all of the reasons and experience mentioned above this was my first and very last time I am ever...
