Newfoundland had a few versions of locals: one was the kind that seem stubborn, backwater, put themselves first before others and perhaps resentful?
My group entered for a late lunch (after 1:30pm) to an all but empty restaurant. In the entry sat two servers, meddling with cutlery, and another behind a side desk. We asked for a table and after some glancing around, we were shunted in an offhand manner to a table close to the door. Now, the settling for this restaurant is stunning and a view of the harbour would have been greatly preferred to the hand painted mural facing us in the depth of this eatery. When I asked if we could sit at the end of the hall by the windows offering a glance at the fairytale canal-like harbour. I was told that table is reserved for groups of 8 or more. Taken aback due to the lateness of the lunch and vapid nature of the restaurant (matched only by the distant stare and apparent space between the ears of the host-in-charge) I asked if there were such a group expected in the near future… Perhaps, one can never tell. We sat in the bowels of this rest-stop, haunted by the rudimentary attempt at of a facsimile of the view.
Later I was told my order would not be severed on a whole wheat bun, that the server had never heard of that before (the menu offers whole wheat and GF options, which I assume is another empty promise). Moreover, when I walked to the deck to see what view I was missing, there were several tables with half-finished dishes being left in the open for birds and insect to feast at their leisure. No sign of any service came around to clean them.
Do yourself a favour and drive on by this sad establishment after enjoying the view...
Read moreWent here with my pop while we were on a salmon fishing trip. It was not very busy there bit usually is. It was a cold rainy day so we sat indoors. I had a steak. It was delicious and cooked just right. The atmosphere of the restaurant is super cozy. The view is very nice. It is on a little island with a bridge over to it. You can watch boats go under the bridge. The bridge is not very long, but it is still a very nice effect. I would always make reservations early though because it fills up by lunch. 100% would...

The fries were pretty good but the dressing was perfect and the gravy was pretty good. Restaurant was spotless and beautiful and offered exceptional views. Restaurant had plenty of indoor seating as well as outdoor patio seating. Lots to explore in the area. Highly recommend this place. Will...
