The food might be nice but the service was terrible!!! I would never go here ever! Beware of the terrible service and last minute change of company policy...
I went to this restaurant this morning at 9:25. There was a waiting list, of course. There were two lady staffs this morning, the long blond hair lady told us it will be at least 20 min wait. That was about 9:30. After we put our name on the list, since it was cold outside, we went in next door for coffee and wait. I went back and told the same lady that we are next door. She told she doesn’t want me to wait next door but right outside of their restaurant. So I told her I will be back within the 20 min as she told us.
We got back within the time she told us, around 9:45. I noticed she had cross out my name. And the party of 4 below us has not been called. The party of 4 went to the same coffee shop as we did and just followed us back to the restaurant.
I peeked into the restaurant seating as I stood at the front door and check on the wait list. There was empty seats on the bar. And two tables free. The lady came to us. I explain to her that she just called us. And we would love to sit at a table that’s just freed up. She told us to wait outside while they clean up the table.
Then I saw the party of 4 next in line on the waitlist got called in to be seated. I was surprised to see that. Then the same long hair lady came out to tell us that there has been a change of policy in the Restaurent. That I lost my place in line so there’s no table for us but we can sit at the bar if we chose to do so.
We were right outside, I saw another group of people that were sitting on another table left! So there were plenty of tables for all of us, including another party of more than 2 people, outside waiting with us, to go in and sit down...
I just couldn’t believed she pulled out the lame excuse of company changing policy that we had to go back down the list and wait longer if we want to sit at a table!!!! But we are welcome to sit at the bar.
I just told her forget it. And took my friend to Table 153 on Lonsdale and 3rd. Which we go a nice table right away and really nice food and super friendly staffs.
It’s unfortunate and stupid that this lady doesn’t believe in customer service, that I had lost my desire to eat at this restaurant ever! She never really smiled every time I went in to check in with her. The other darker hair lady at least smiled when our eyes met.
The bistro really should train their staff properly. Don’t treat customers like they owe you...
Read moreReally great brunch spot. Definitely recommend.
Cons: No reservations. I do understand this as they have limited hours, and limited seating so they need to keep the tables full to maximize revenue. We waited 30 minutes at 11am on a Sunday. Worth the wait, 110%.
Homestyle fries( hashbrowns) pretty bland, minor letdown after everything else was so fantastic. But they are very inexpensive($3) and they did taste great with a mix of ketchup and the mums hot sauce.
Pros
Sister restaurant (S’wich) next door has great espresso and Chai latte. Recommend a beverage from here if you have a bit of a wait.
Casual with good ambience. Not sure if COVID is still influencing table distancing, but we found it busy without feeling crowded.
Breakfast sandwich was delicious. I love breakfast sandwiches, when I saw it on the top of the menu at a well reviewed brunch place, I knew I had to try it. It did not disappoint. It was excellent and highly recommended. Also recommend adding a touch of the mum’s hot sauce to a few bites. Great combo.
Girlfriend ordered the Huevos Rancheros. I’m not the hugest fan of rancheros but it was very good. Girlfriend really, really enjoyed it.
Caesers. Awesome. GF and I both love a spicy, flavourful caeser. If you like a spicy caeser, you will almost certainly like this one.
Service. Hostess and server both very busy, but all our needs were met in a reasonable timeframe. Food came out quickly. No complaints.
Overall, just a great spot. Good value for great food, delivered timely with decent service. I’m not gonna ask for anymore than that. Kudos to the owner and team of...
Read moreI recently dined at Blvd Bistro in North Vancouver and had a decent experience. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere, it's cozy and casual, with a bit of a rustic feel. The service was good, the staff were friendly and attentive, but not overly so.
One of the highlights of my meal were the benedicts. They offered a variety of options, but I went for the classic and it was delicious. The poached eggs were cooked perfectly and the hollandaise sauce was rich and flavorful. The bacon was crispy and the english muffin was toasted just right. This dish was definitely a standout.
Another dish I would recommend is the macadamia nut banana pancakes. These pancakes were fluffy and had a great texture. The macadamia nuts added a nice crunch and the banana was a nice touch. The dish was served with a side of maple syrup and butter.
The menu had a variety of options, but it was not very diverse and I found it a bit limited. The side salad was fresh and crisp, but the dressing was a bit too heavy.
In summary, I would recommend Blvd Bistro for breakfast or brunch, particularly for their benedicts and macadamia nut banana pancakes. The food was decent, but not outstanding. The service was good and the atmosphere is nice, but the prices are a bit high for...
